Schlumpy

Black silk blend shrug, INC. Army green tank with embellished collar, H&M. Black long-sleeved tee, Merona. Pinstriped pants, Forever 21. Black pumps, Michelle D. Gold bracelet, from swap. Gold watch, Raymond Weil.

I don’t normally complain about my appearance in this blog, but I had a really hard time getting a flattering (i.e. slimming) photo of myself this morning. Because it’s so cold, I am wearing thick leggings beneath my trousers. While I have plenty of room in my pants (gee, that sounds naughty) and the leggings are a slippery synthetic, the fabrics still stick together and my pants cling as if they were too tight. To put it baldly, I look fat.

On the bright side, I’m quite happy with my hair this morning. Cold, dry air means itchy skin, but good hair.

    Kasmira,

I really enjoy your blog. However, I say this as a plus-size woman who has learned to love her shape (through years of therapy)...Darlin' you are not fat. You look lovely in your photo.

I gotta agree with popessa - you look just great!

But I can sympathize with the feeling.

Oh come on. First, you are not fat. Second, this picture does not make you look fat at all.

  5. I wore leggings under my pants today too! And I also had trouble with my pic! My only excuse for that is that I still have yet to invest in a tri-pod......

  6. One of the things I hate about winter is that my arms always look bulky with all the layers of clothing. But seriously, I doubt you could ever look fat.

  7. I LOVE this outfit. I always feel fat if I wear hose underneath my pants. My newest solution is "Spanx". You can get them at Saks for about $25. Normally I am so incredibly cheap, but I saw the creator of them on "The Big Idea" (I think on MSNBC) and just had to get them for myself. No panty lines, no hose riding up on the legs, and they make your pants fit better, too!
I've been blog-stalking you for a while now, and I love your style. I also love that you don't have to have a lot of money to look put together; just a little bit of imagination and creativity. I admit that I copy you a bit. I've recently made a link to you on my blog for my friends to take a look!
BTW, referring to your recent post, vulnerability on your blog is good. It's why I chose to make a comment. It shows your human...

    Great hair, by the way.

Tights/leggings/and the like under pants can be a bit cumbersome but they are oh so great @ keeping the cold from getting to your legs. They are a must in my winter wardrobe.

You know your body better than anyone reading on here can but in my opinion you look great.

  11. I'm digging this outfit, mainly because those pants are terrific. I know what you mean about looking fat in outfits, it happens to the best of us.

  12. I think the outfit and the picture look great. You were just uncomfortable because of the layering and clinginess.
