Bar Mitzvah

I only enter churches for weddings and I’ve never even been in a synagogue. The night before the bar mitvah, I placed a frantic call to one of the young man’s female relatives for advice on what to wear. Her guidance led me to wear this:

Dress, Isaac Mizrahi for Target. Cardigan, To the Max. Boots, White Mountain. Tights, Target. Watch, Raymond Weil. Earrings, vintage (from swap.)

I was relieved to get to the service and see that I was suitably dressed. Next challenge: finding an appropriate moment during the three hour program to sneak out to the bathroom! I don’t advise drinking two large cups of coffee before such an event.

  6. This is so pretty on you! That shade of grey washes me right out.

I hate long services of any type (I've been to a few funeral/memorials lately), for that very reason!

  7. I love that white-grey--very wintery, and it looks perfect with the boots you've paired it with!

  10. I love the grey cardigan!

I always have to ask about what to wear to that sort of event too, otherwise I show up over dressed and too slutty.

  12. This outfit is one of my favorites! The color is great on you, the proportions are great, I love the "slouchy-chic" use of the boots, and how you formalized it with the gold jewelery. Lovely!

  17. Heidi - Isaac Mizrahi left target to go design for the Liz Claiborne brand. You can see his influence in their latest offereings and ads. He is one of my favorite designers.
