J Crew

I made an ill-considered visit to J Crew last week. The styling was so fresh, so clever, so on-trend. . .that I wanted to buy everything in the place. I resisted and, instead, attempted some lame copycatting from my own wardrobe.

Shirt, Converse One Star (thrifted). Skirt, Mossimo. Shoes, BCBGeneration. Brooch (worn at waist), Newport News. Faux pearl necklaces, shopgoodwill.com. Tassel pendant, Epcot Morocco. Arrowhead pendants, thrifted.

  1. Sometimes, copycatting is what it's all about when you can't afford places like that!

You look fantastic in this. I love the neutral outfit with pops of yellow and red. Simply gorgeous and so very classy.

  4. Umm, NOT AT ALL LAME.

I'm pretty sure nothing you put on you could look lame.

  5. Sometimes I love the copycat outfits better! I love the strong primary colors against the pale blue. The tassel is too cute!

  6. I think the flower and the tassel are competing for the same space but other than that, I think it turned out great!

  8. Holy Heels, those shoes are HOT! I have to ask, though, why do you say "lame?" I think you did a great job and that's a great accomplishment! It can be seriously challenging to stay on trend when one has to scavange through one's own wardrobe. You look great!

  9. I like this outfit, although it doesn't have your usual dose of "whoa!" (which I love), so I can see why you might be a little "meh" about it. But you look gorgeous - I love that black flower at the waist.

  13. You did a great job. I like the whole outfit. You look just as good as the photos I've seen in JCrew's recent catalogs. Actually, I think you look better. Some of the models have the oddest expressions on their faces.
