Down Here at the Dog Park

The play area of our dog park is barren, gritty sand. Add water from the doggie pools and plain old dog slobber and you get muddy paws, muddy muzzles, muddy toys, and muddy clothes. Anything I wear must be somewhat rugged and machine washable. I’ve worn casual dresses and skirts to the dog park, but these boyfriend shorts are my favorite. (The better for wiping my dirty, slobber-covered hands upon.)

Shirt, Forever 12. Shorts, Mavi (thrifted). Shoes, New Balance. Earrings, Cuffs. Sunglasses, Girlprops.

I found out the hard way that sandals are totally unsuitable for this park. Unless you like the feeling of grit between your foot and shoe.

I try to always match the frisbee to my accessories. Because dogs notice things like that.

Jasper was off wrasslin’ while Beefy took my picture, so I had to borrow Booie for the last pic.

Beautifully Ugly

A very kind reader sent me the blue version of my olive splotchy dress! To style it, I thought I’d just recreate every outfit I wore with the green colorway, starting with one of my first bold pattern mixes.

Dress, Mossimo (gift). Shirt, INC (cut from a swapped dress). Shoes, thrifted. Sunglasses, Girlprops. Earrings, gift from Londyn. Bag, Go Jane. Bracelets, thrifted, Garden of the Gods gift shop, and Fort.

Due to Target’s incredibly high quality standards, the torso of blue dress is a good two inches shorter than the green (and it’s shorter in the front than the back). Before I wear it for work again, I will need to add some fabric at the shoulders to extend the torso (and, thus, the length)!

Now and then:

Thanks, Stephanie!

Put Some Leopard On It

This vintage dress still had its self belt when I bought it, but I can’t bring myself to wear them together. Especially when paired with these demure heels, the look is too dated. A leopard belt, instead, makes the outfit modern.

Dress, Vintage. Belt, Express. Shoes, Linea Paolo. Earrings, Claire’s. Bangles, thrifted, vintage, and Garden of the Gods gift shop. Bag, Nine West.

Leopard print makes everything cooler.

Browned

Perhaps the wooden interior of the Nut Tree covered bridge wasn’t the best place to photograph an almost-all-brown outfit. Never fear, you can find me by my glowing white skin. (And I consider myself fairly tanned.)

Shirt, Express (thrifted). Dress, swap. Shoes and bag, Nine West. Earrings, Target.

Unity

Beefy and I have begun a weekly (weekend) project to document Sacramento’s murals (with my outfits in the foreground, of course). This mural, located at 10th and W Streets, depicts various religious figures. The “Unity” mural was painted by artist Irubiel Moreno, with the assistance of other artists. Personally, I call it “Serenity,” because the figures look so peaceful. It’s also referred to as “The Interfaith Rainbow.”

Shirt, Love on a Hanger. Shorts, Lee (thrifted). Wedges, Tom’s. Sunglasses and earrings, Target. Scarf, Calypso St Barth for Target. Bag, Walgreen’s.

Elle Woods

I almost bought a pair of pink-framed sunglasses at the carwash on Monday. They would have made this outfit totally Legally Blonde.

Shirt, Victoria’s secret. Pants, Kenar. Shoes, Carlos Santana. Sunglasses, Target. Earrings, Claire’s. Necklace, thrifted. Bag, Vieta. Belt, The Limited (thrifted).

Catdog

Everytime I’d watch Catdog, I’d wonder, “How does it poop?” And, you, upon seeing my outfit might be wondering, “Where’s the dog?” Keep scrolling.
