Cocktail Shorts

In the late 90’s, I wore some skankalicious outfits to the clubs. Despite my total lack of taste, I was scandalized when a girl in my group wore shiny athletic shorts with heels out dancing. I made endless fun of her outfit, but it turns out she was ahead of her time. Cocktail shorts are “it” right now. (At least I think so.)

Blouse, Maeve (consignment). Shorts, Audrey. Shoes, Enzo Anglioni. Sunglasses, Girlprops. Earrings, Cuffs. Belt, thrifted. Bag, Colini Handbags (thrifted).

Below, I’m the skank on the left, the visionary in shorts is in the middle, and my regular clubbing buddy, Julie, is no doubt wearing head to toe Bebe on the right.

  1. HA! I love the 90s pic - check out the chunky shoes. It's so funny what our eye gets used to in fashion. I would never call you "skankalicious", Kasmira!

You were hot then, as you are now, though I would say your style has become considerably more sophisticated. Still, a fun blast from the past! Always interesting to see how a person's style has evolved over time.

Bwahaha! I remember the 90s, and I don't think your clubwear would have been considered too skankalicious! Though your current wardrobe is certainly more refined!

P.S. I'm so pleased chunky heels are coming back. Your pal Julie has some killer shoes!

P.P.S. Just happened to snag this same blouse at a thrift store for $10. Here's hoping I can make it look as refined as you do! ;]

  6. What a fun "vintage" picture !
I like the shorts you are wearing.
I saw the shorts trend first in LA about 5 years ago and thought then that they were crazy - now i wear them once in a while. I just don't feel too confident in them.
