September Purchases

I bought a few big ticket items this month.

Nordstrom

1. Ella Moss Marigold Print Silk Dress, $158.90.

A long-sleeved silk dress is a 4-season garment for me. It’s light as air in the summer and easily layered in the winter.

Overland

You can find these boots cheaper online. I paid for the experience of discovering them in a genuine Western store in a genuine Western town (Denver) and delighting in the sales associate’s offer to ship them to my house for free.

2. Ariat Dahlia Dainty boots in Brown, $199.00.

September total: $357.90

Total spending for the year: $1649.39

Remaining 2014 budget: $150.61

Will I make it? (Probably not.)

Sweet As

Oh, dear. This is a cavity-inducing amount of pink.

Shirt, Worthington (thrifted). Skirt, Herman Geist (thrifted and shortened). Shoes, Carlos Santana. Sunglasses, Girlprops. Earrings, Capsule by Cara. Bag, Imoshion.

Colors

Once upon a time, I wasn’t obsessed with pattern mixing. Instead, my jam was color mixing. I would recreate palettes from ballroom carpets, find inspiration in ice cream or just try to make really weird color combinations work. Today’s mix of turquoise, mint, and orange is right up old Kasmira’s alley.

Sweater, thrifted. Skirt, J Crew (consignment). Shoes, Prabal Gurung for Target. Sunglasses, Target. Earrings, Jack E Oh NYC. Scarf, Frangi (consignment). Bag, Imoshion.

Boy Disguise

Although I don’t indulge in them often, I love androgynous looks like this. I ask Beefy if I “look like a boy” and he always disagrees. I guess the hips and boobs give it away.

Hat, Nine West. Jacket, H&M (thrifted). Sweater, Jacob (thrifted). Pants, Da Nang (consignment). Shoes, Lauren Ralph Lauren. Sunglasses, Meow Meow. Earrings, Claires. Bag, thrifted.

Puppies!

We drove to Fresno to see a woman about a dog. Seven tiny dogs. Border Collie puppies! Jasper accompanied us so that we could start to identify the right match.

Shirt, Eddie Bauer (thrifted). Skirt, Billabong. Boots, Ariat. Sunglasses and backpack, Target. Earrings, vintage.

We won’t know which puppy is ours for a few weeks. Others have picks before us and one puppy is destined to become a service dog. Little Yolo, with one blue eye, shows up in many of the pictures below because he was so outgoing and cuddly. I tried not to get too attached!
