Today’s “big belt” isn’t so big, but it is a respectable 1.5” wide. And today’s “bright” (the green shirt) isn’t so bright, but I think that is mostly situational. It’s a true, primary green, but muted by the sheer fabric and the pairing with burgundy, lime green, and brown. I promise: your eyes will bleed tomorrow.
This is a vintage purse by Crown Lewis. I feel so ladylike carrying it.
The purse is gorgeous; no wonder you feel ladylike with it :-)
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas! Pretty but too costumey.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Nellie. For me, the wine and the green are too clashy, and the lime doesn't seem to fit. I love this dress but I can't seem to think what would look better with it. Maybe Navy...? But that would not be bright...hmmm.
ReplyDeleteMaybe since the belt isn't so big and the blouse not so bright you should have titled this one with lower case letters: bb&b bright green blouse :-) Either way, I do like the purse.

very pretty. i love the lime color. you wear a lot of pieces by moda international. i'm not familiar with the brand. where do you buy it?
ReplyDeleteI love that purse! Now that is right up my alley. So feminine with a 50s feel to it. Wonderful choice!! I keep forgetting that its still March and some state still have snow. Great pictures!
ReplyDeleteModa International is Victoria Secret's main clothing line. They also do Body by Victoria and London Jean.
ReplyDeleteHmm...this ensemble looks like it has just a bit too much going on. I don't know if it is all the layering or the different colors. Someone mentioned too costumey and I have to agree.
ReplyDeleteBut the purse is divine!
It's just hard to match anything with velvet, period, I think, especially when it's a dress you're dealing with. But I think the light lime green bow on the purse goes really well with the lime green sweater. I hope to see these two pieces combined again in another outfit later on.
ReplyDeletei agree with the majority of comments, it just doesn't work for me either. and just as an aside green is not a primary color, last time i checked there were only 3 primary colors - red, yellow, & blue.
ReplyDeleteI see it's time for a Physics lesson. There are two sets of primary colors. The additive primaries are usually red, green, and blue and the subtractives magenta, yellow, and cyan. Of course any set of three colors can be primaries since the mixing of colors is not really a property of light but of vision. In any case, she referred to the color as a "primary green" which is acceptable usage...whew...finally those degrees some in handy.

Love the scarf on the purse...I tend to do that as well for added colour and detail. :)
ReplyDeleteWhen are you going to get new black boots?
ReplyDeleteOh, the purse is so cute! How exactly did you tie the scarf? I always want to tie one on as an extra detail, but somehow it looks too long and flowy and weird.
ReplyDeleteI like the bangs better than yesterday's experiment.
ReplyDeletetoo clashy. way to clashy... but the purse is prettyyyy!!!
ReplyDeleteLisa,
ReplyDeleteI just tied it in a bow - like you would your shoe laces. It's a square scarf, so the bow ends up much tighter than an oblong scarf would.
You can see the untied scarf here:

I have that same velour dress and noticed that you style it in so many ways--I'm inspired! I've only ever worn it as a cocktail dress alone or with a similar velvety fabric black blazer and some stand out jewelry. Funny thing is I have a lot of similar items in my closet, but I've never thrown them together like this, I will definitely try to restyle the dress with some lacey blouses
