When I was small, I loved to dress in themes. Okay, I still love to theme dress. Today is “Under Da Sea.” I’m wearing my tropical ocean blue blouse, shell earrings, and a starfish brooch at my waist. If you squint your eyes, you can imagine that the print on my skirt is of sea anemones not land dahlias. (Mike said that bit was a stretch.) My hair color has faded terribly, but I’m pretending I’ve got Ariel’s vibrantly colored locks.

That blue on you is so beautiful. Whenever you wear it, it makes your skin look creamy and your eyes pop!
ReplyDeleteWere you singing "Under the Sea" this morning?
what a cool theme! i love the brooch too!
ReplyDeleteoutfit very appropriately named! i can totally see sea anemones in the skirt!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, as usual.
ReplyDeleteLove the blue on you. I notice you wear lots of skirts, I have a nightmare with skirts because they always blow up in the wind (I am in England so wind and rain are a daily occurance!) How do you manage not to flash everyone in skirts?
ReplyDeleteHi! Two friends recommended your blog to me, and I see why. I love your style! And I especially love that you shop at NORMAL places, like Target, Old Navy and - my addiction - thrift stores. Awesome.
ReplyDeleteI definitely see the Under Da Sea theme. So cute!
I very rarely have a problem with my skirts blowing up! It just isn't too windy here.
ReplyDeleteSome recommendations for preserving your modesty: slips, giant underpants, longish coats, and skirt weights. You can sew the skirt weights into your hem...which would be a pain to do for every skirt, but might work for those prone to flashing?
Thanks for the tips will go on a hunt for skirt weights and give them a go.
ReplyDeleteOh I STILL pretend I'm Ariel. She will always remain my fave Disney Princess.
ReplyDeleteI love the starfish broch at the waist!
ReplyDeletei knew the theme before i saw the title of your post =) i love the sea too! i've got a gold coloured seashorse brooch that i wanted to wear yesterday, but i didn't know how to fit it in my outfit... i was thinking of pinning it on my black winter jacket but thoughtt i might look very ordinary and might look 82 years old.(i'm from australia..and its cold now). how do u suggest i wear my seahorse brooch? i usually wear jean and with nice tops and a cardigan over...and over that i wear a winter jacket.. any suggestions?
ReplyDeletealso.. i've been following your blog since i discovererd it by accident last september..and i have to say.. you have inspired me to dress better than i used to! i've always stayed on the "safe" side when it comes to colour coordination but now i try mixing all sorts of colours and my boyfriend thinks i'm joining a cicus..but i don't care! it makes me happy! i'm sure u're an inspiration to all thoe girls out there who just wanna have a bit of fun when it comes to dressing for work.. so on behalf of everyone... i'de like to say thank u for ur daily posts! =)

I love the pumps! I am a sucker for round toe pumps. My husband and I were actually at a local antique mall today for a date(yeah, we're lame) and I found a pair of navy vintage pumps. I would have paid the $30 for them too if they'd have been my size(why can you only find vintage shoes in sizes 5 and under? Weird!)
ReplyDeleteI totally agree wiht angie..I am form india I have always wanted to dress up good, but I used to be scared of what my colleagues would think about me ,after reading your posts um so much inspired,I have copied so many styles of yours,um glad i came across your site
ReplyDeleteIt’s so nice to see someone wear blouses. I love them and yet so many women are resistant to them. Thanks for sporting your beautiful blouses with style!
ReplyDeletei just went out and got pink ballet flats. sorta like the colour of cotton candy. my boyfriend says that if i wear a tutu, i'll look like a ballerina. hahaha... u have totally changed my sense of style. now i dont really care what people say... i wear what i like! thank you kasmira.. u're a real inspiration!

angie~* - I, too, worry about brooches coming off as old lady-ish. My favorite place to put them is at the waist, either on a skirt or a blazer. If you wear one at the typical breast-height, just watch that the rest of your outfit is fun and youthful and you'll be okay.
ReplyDeleteI really like this one! Very Pretty.
ReplyDeleteVery nice starfish brooch. It reminds me of Kenneth Jay Lane.
