And this is why you so seldom see pictures of me on the weekend:
Fedora, Cappel’s. Tee, Gap. Skirt, Mossimo (circa 1998). Skimmers, Meijer.
I have to wear a hat when I wear my glasses on sunny days. Otherwise, the glare is just too much. Mike hates my fedoras. He calls them “old man hats.”
I laughed when Allie told us that those of us past the age of twenty-one should stop wearing our “tattered denim minis.” This one has far too much history for me to give up. I wear it at least once a week during the warmer months. If it lasts until I’m 41, I’ll wear it still.

Why is it only celebrities that can dress 15 years younger than their age? If you can pull it off, which you can, wear that mini until it's nothing but threads!!
ReplyDeletei am always bothered by lists that tell you what to own, like ones about wardrobe foundations and basics, or what is worth tossing during spring cleaning (for example, id rather keep my skinny jeans so i can try to get back in than toss em). a lot of what goes into having personal style is having a personal standard for what's acceptable, including tattered minis! just don't try to rock this one to work with some opaque tights :)
ReplyDeleteI've been debating on buying a fedora since I'm seeing them everywhere right now and love hats in general and I think this post may have tipped me over to the side of buying. Very cute!
ReplyDeleteI think if you have the legs to go with the mini (like you do!) then wear the mini!
ReplyDeletePeople can wear anything if it suits their body type, personal style and lifestyle.
I also understand where Allie is coming from - we've all seen those women in the mall... age 40 something wearing the full "tween" outfit. That's when the look moves from style to costume.
You've got the right figure it takes to wear it and it looks great on you not trashy so enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI say make your own rules and wear what you love! By the way, i've nominated you for the "I Love Your Blog" Award.
ReplyDeleteNice hat!
ReplyDeleteYou're never too old for stripey socks and mini-skirts! I have one from twelve years ago (pink benetton, bought in Seoul) that I'll never give up. Yes, eventually I'll be wearing it, hobbling along and pushing my walker but I'll be the cutest one in the nursing home, hahaha! You look great in yours, work it as long as you've got it --
