Boxing Day

Jacket, Wilson’s Leather. Sweater, Bloch. Tank, No Boundaries. Scarf, Images. Corduroy pants, Old Navy. Wedge loafers, AE for Payless.

We not only braved the mall today, we went to the most crowded mall in all the Cincinnati area: Kenwood. The exit was backed up well onto the freeway. We ostensibly went to Kenwood to enjoy a Cheesecake Factory gift certificate, but I, of course, checked out Forever 21, too.

As I browsed, I reminded myself of my resolution to add more “Bohemian” and “Rock and Roll” elements into my wardrobe. These earrings struck me as bohemian, and I like how the feathers blend with the color my hair. I spotted a black belt covered in gold studs on a mannequin, but the sales associate refused to sell it to me, even though it was the last in the store. That makes absolutely no sense to me. Surely the trouble of replacing the mannequin’s belt is worth moving merchandise.

  2. How ridiculous! That would make me want to complain to the manager (unless that WAS the manager in which case it's even more outlandish, lol!)

But you looked great, anyway :)

You are braver than I, I've stayed far away from the malls and will until mid Jan.

    Have a great weekend!

  3. I braved the mall the day after Christmas too. Just so happened that Steve & Barry's is going out of business and they had all of their stuff {including SJP's Bitten line} 50-70% off. Score! It was worth the madness.

  4. I hit the mall yesterday and got a few things, as my last gasp before I stop shopping for a year. It was not too nutty.

I worked in a clothing store for years - that salesperson was absolutely wrong in refusing to sell you the belt. You should have asked for the manager.

  5. I bet you she wanted the belt for herself. If it were me, I'd boycott the store. But I'm a bit over-the-top and overly-dramatic that way. Just ask anyone I've ever been out to eat with. :)

Kasmira, I must say I can't see your new earrings! I think you should consider wearing your hair in one of your cool updos when you wear the feathers! Can you get another pair in peacock or something for when your hair is down? Loved your looks from Lucky. They are too hard for me, though.

  7. i had this happen to me too at f21. they said they have a rule that they can only change the mannequins one day of the week and the sales associates cant remove clothing or redress them. someone "styles" the mannequins for them i guess, so they took my name to hold the item for me after mannequin change day. i had to return after that day to get my window item. pretty silly.

  8. I really like this look, with the lovely leather jacket, scarf, and corduroy pants. I'm also trying to work some bohemian into my wardrobe, too. I've been very inspired by the people featured on "The Fashionist" blog lately. Their style is so unique and original and quirky, like yours :)

That salesperson sounds like an idiot. I wonder what his/her manager would say if he/she heard what had happened...

  9. I really like this look. I love those earrings as well. I've been looking for a feathered earring for a while now, I just can't find a color I like.

Do you have a close up of them?

  10. I find that Forever 21 will never take things off of mannequins for you, apparently it's against their policy. But it annoys me to no end.

I almost called a district manager to complain once, but instead I just sneak it off myself and buy it. I don't put up with silly store policies. :)

    Love the scarf!
You are a fearless lady to brave the wilds of Kenwood the day after Christmas. I salute you and your dedication to shopping for inexpensive yet trendy fashion!

  12. I'll get a close-up of the earrings next time I wear them. They blend very well with my hair, don't they! :)

  13. Having my own fashion boutiqe I do not understand why you were not sold the belt!! I will sell whatever a customer wants to pay me for. These things have included, in the past, the top that my sister was wearing and the coat-hangers that I display stock on!!
