Little Bird

Cropped jacket, No Boundaries. Tank, Merona. Dress, Lipstick. Peeptoes, Wild Diva. Necklace and bracelet, Pangaea. Bag, Prague (thrifted).

Someone, please, ban me from entering Pangaea. I do not need any more jewelry. I bought this bird-in-a-tree pendant there, along with the wooden Zad necklace.

I rarely caveat my photos this way, but: this looked better in real life. My hair, although damp in the photos, did not look better IRL. In fact, be prepared to view many more bad hair days as I have been banned from coloring it until my appointment in June. I don’t see much point to getting a trim before then, either.

See ya.

Bad hair days, here I come.

  1. I adore the shoes in this combo, so POP! I wouldn't worry about the hair, it is so striking I think you can get away with it. While on the topic of stunning red heads, I want to see you enter my Mad Men Style competition. You really do THE BEST Joan. Lovely vintage prizes up for grabs.

  4. I'm all about GREAT color combinations when it comes to art, food, fashion, etc....so I'm a huge fan of what you do. The colors you chose here are FANTASTIC (subtle AND striking...if that makes sense:). I also agree with Super Kawaii Mama's comment on your shoe choice for this outfit as well as her remarks on your hair. Personally, I really like the way your necklace is framed by the cropped jacket and black top (just ONE example of the "subtle/striking" aspect of this outfit). I know I've said this before, but your blog is refeshingly honest, inspirational and thought-provoking. It's a perfect blend of FASHION, PHOTOGRAPHY, COMMENTARY, ADVISE, and just plain F-U-N! --- Thanks...and just keep doing what you're doing.

  5. Yeah, why the ban? What are you going to do to your hair?

I really like this outfit - I like how you've played with the proportions (and the shoes looks fab). But I hear ya - I had an off day yesterday too.

  9. Oooh, this is my favorite recent ensemble. I love the sleek silhouette of the dress and top contrasted with the trapeze jacket. I also like how you pulled the turquoise out of the dress with those eye-popping shoes.

  11. Milly - this dress was SO cheap. I think it was $8? I got it during a winter clearance sale at Body Central. I've totally gotten my money out of it.

  12. I adore your hair! I have always been envious of the red hair and peaches-and-cream skin look you have! You are adorable...
I also love the color of those shoes. Using all neutrals , with the pattern of the dress and then the pop of blue the shoes bring out in the pattern makes it so interesting and 3 dimensional. I swear you get the most wear out of that dress, more than the rest of your wardrobe. Wouldn't you say?

  15. An $8 dress that looks like Missoni?! Good find. Without the tank and cardy but keep the shoes and it looks like something Tina Fey would have worn in Baby Mama. Gorgeous.
