I’ve got a thing for quirky skirts. This one features small portraits of dogs and foxes. It was a long wrinkled mess when I rescued it from TDW’s costume stores. I washed it, ironed it, and hacked off 10 inches.*
Sweater, The Limited. Skirt, Herman Geist (stolen and shortened). Tights, We Love Colors. Boots, Nine West. Earrings, Urban Outfitters. Cuff, Pangaea.
I was appalled when I saw that first picture and relieved when I saw the actual outfit. You really transformed a frumpy skirt into a fashionable one. Well done!
I love what you did with that skirt. It looks a thousand times better. I don't understand what they were thinking making it so long in the first place...especially when the design ends half way....crazy! It looks great! Well done!
Loved that first picture! You are one brave woman :) And the final look is fabulous. Also - big shout out to Beefy. Your photos have been stunning! He does an awesome job capturing the outfit AND the person wearing it. Yay Beefy!
This is my favorite outfit of yours, ever! You did an amazing job transforming a frumpy skirt into an extremely fabulous skirt; and the way you accented the colors and patterns with your accessories is divine. Über excellent!
I love how you changed this skirt! This outfit is fabulous. Also, the contrast between the first picture and the rest of them is surprising and funny! I am a great admirer of your blog :)
You are a true miracle worker! I need to start looking for more quirky skirts! Do you tailor them yourself, or take them to a professional? If so, how much does the cost of tailoring add to your budget?
I cut and hemmed the skirt myself. I know a blind hem stitch that I use for everything.
I ONCE had a dress professionally hemmed and it cost around $40. That was kind of ridiculous for something I can easily do myself. I just have to find a quiet afternoon and a movie that doesn't require my full attention.
You are a miracle worker! That skirt looks a trillion times better and all your accessories make that outfit look a million dollars :)
ReplyDeleteWith that weird band of plain fabric around the bottom of the hem, it's like the manufacturer, KNEW the length sucked, and that it needed shortening.
ReplyDeleteFantastic outfit... I really love the frogs on that sweater!

ReplyDeleteI love the colours in this outfit - the wine tights, sage skirt, navy cardi yellow accents - it's gorgeous!

ReplyDeleteI love all the textures in this: the embellishments on the sweater look great with the skirt pattern. The burgundy tights look super with it.

ReplyDeleteYou totally transformed that skirt.
It's perfect.
BTW What did you do with the 10 inches?
Haha, I admire your bra honesty! And I love this skirt... I need to work on seeing the potential in things and not just take them for what they are.
ReplyDeleteLorena - I wish I had saved the extra material for an infinity scarf or crafts, but I threw it away. :(
ReplyDeleteYou are super talented. I would have never thought that skirt could be transformed into a chic outfit.
