Feeling Good

None of this really goes together (except the dress and tights), but the overall effect has me feeling good.

Blazer, vintage and stolen from New Gate. Dress, New York and Company (shortened). Tee, The Limited. Necklace, Zad. Scarf (worn as belt), some department store. Tights, We Love Colors. Boots, White Mountain. Brass bangle, World Market. Charm bracelet, Just 2 Friends (gift).

Birds flying high, you know how I feel
Sun in the sky, you know how I feel
Reeds drifting on by, you know how I feel

It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good

You know Kasmira, a few days ago you posted reader comment with criticism about your style evolution from safe to exuberant. I've also noticed something else about how your blog has changed.

For example, check out pictures of your India Room. In almost all the pictures in the last 3 months taken in the India Room you're not actively engaging the camera and if you smile, you're not smiling with your eyes or showing your teeth. You kinda seem - not happy. Where is that outgoing personality that we see displayed in your clothing choices? I miss the happier Kasmira.
(I will say that in the pictures outdoors or on the porch you seem a lot happier. )

In 2008, you can randmonly browse all your postings and you seem genuinely happy with maybe a few bad days -- Even in the India Room. We all know you enjoy blogging, thats why you're so consistent and put the effort into your daily outfits, but if you’re not showing that you’re happy it doesn’t seem like as much fun.

Forget about what you’re wearing, go check out your facial expressions on February 08, 2009; June 23, 2008; and September 27, 2007 (your face looks like Christina Hendricks there, cute!) then go look at your post today and you'll see what I'm talking about.

I don't know if it's seasonal with crummy weather, or some personal non-fashion related things in your life. Maybe you need music to jam to, or maybe Beefy needs to do a little dance for you behind the camera on your down days, but Kasmira, we wanna see that exuberance in your face and poses too!
We love you and want you to be happy, even if we don't always agree with your eclectic choices.

  5. Loving it, loving it. Fabulous mix...you look classic, yet funky at the same time. Wouldn't change a thing!

  6. I love the fashion mix. But the necklace really catches my eye. What a great piece!

  7. It may not "go" but I really like it. FYI - I put your necklace and sweater pin in the mail today. They're headed back to you.

  8. So cool--is that jacket purple? I love the color combo anyway. My favorite? The leopard belt. I would never have thought of that! Paula

  10. You must be feeling like you are looking, or is it the other way around:)

  11. I love how the necklace fills in the neckline with some detail.

Barbie's comments above are interesting - I have noticed that you are not as goofy (hee) as you used to be. I have enjoyed your fashion evolution - I've been going through a bit of one lately as I'm out of work.

Also, I have been meaning to say...you look lovely with less makeup, I mean, really.

  12. fashionoverfifty - the blazer is navy, but it's looking a little purple, here!

Sheila - it's the same amount of makeup as usual, minus the lipstick. You seem to be a fan of a neutral lip!

  13. Love the mash up of Jewel-tones here! As for Barbie B - shaking head - not sure why people feel the need to analyze every little look and facial expression of a person they have never met.

  14. Wow. And I thought I had your blog memorized. Apparently not.

Anywho, I think your facial expressions have always been fabulous - they're part of the reason why I like your blog so much. Sometimes you grin, sometimes you smile, whatever, it's all good.

Moving on - fabulous outfit! I have coveted that velvet dress for YEARS. You just inspired me to bust out my own velvet v-neck in new and interesting ways.

  17. Lol, that must be it! I rarely wear lipstick myself as I have big lips anyway (I just use gloss).
