I had planned on piling on the necklaces today, but I couldn’t bear the weight of them around my neck. Instead, I wore seven brooches on my lapels.
Blazer, New York & Company. Vest, Cherokee. Skirt, Peyton Place (thrifted and shortened). Tights, We Love Colors. Boots, Nine West. Brooches, all thrifted except the owl who is borrowed from Tina.
I really like how the brooches tie the teal & orange together. And how with a more muted (for you) bottom half it becomes the feature of the outfit. This look inspires me to collect some brooches!
IN LOVE with your brooches--especially the starfish! I would have never have guessed to pair the blazer with the outfit--but it works so wonderfully together!
I love the whole outfit! It's edgy but really lovely! I especially love the starfish brooch. I remember oyu wearing it a few years ago as a brooch on your skirt in a sort of underwater theme outfit. I loved it. I've got a starfish shaped brooch but haven't worn it in recent years. I would really love to get a starfish brooch though! -that anonymous commentor
Love this outfit! And all the brooches too. Those are my jewelry item of choice most days and I have quite a collection. I remember when I first got out of college, I would go to antique stores and get them for next to nothing to spice up my drab suits. I still have them and I think some might be a lot more valuable now. The circle pins are really lovely.
I've been reading your blog for a long time now (which I love), and tonight I was reading another when I thought of you. Are you reading Della Street Dreaming? First of all, she's hilarious. But secondly (and what made me think of you), she is a big fan of Piling on the Jewelry. It's a look that I really want to pull off (but I always think I don't have enough jewelry) and the two of you just have it down. I hope someday I can get to the point of not being able to bear the weight. Sadly, two necklaces is not yet taxing...
Anon - I DO read Della Street Dreaming. I would like to borrow (steal!) many of her chunky pieces. I wish I could pull off a single giant earring the way she does!
I absolutely adore this look from head to toe!!! And I want to rip that starfish right off your gorgeous blazer, except that would put a hole in the blazer and then Sheila would be sad.
I'm loving the blazer! And you're rocking the brooches. I know what you mean about necklaces feeling heavy.

ReplyDeleteI love the contrast of the blazer but, I kept looking at the skirt for a little bit of teal for it to pick up on, I'm too matchy matchy :/
ReplyDeleteI think I need to steal this entire look. Thanks for providing today's outfit inspiration. Is it okay to link to you when I post it?

ReplyDeleteThe teal blazer is the perfect color for this outfit, and really showcases the brooches nicely. I love the starfish!
ReplyDeleteAbsolute PERFECTION!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the blazer! The leaf brooch is definitely my favorite.

ReplyDeleteSuper cute skirt! I wore its second cousin yesterday. I actually had to go back and check my picture to make sure it wasn't the same pattern.

Everytime I see this blazer, I covet it! Such a gorgeous colour. I love all the brooches - what a great idea! Your creativity knows no bounds.

ReplyDeleteOooh--great look :) I've done a pin collage, but this is taking it to the next level! Rock it!

ReplyDeleteThis seems very autumn at the beach to me for some reason. It's a really pretty color combo, but it may just be the starfish leading me thataway.
ReplyDeletePerfection!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I had a skirt like that --- in 1982!! Please some advice from Coco Chanel regarding the number of pins.
ReplyDeleteI really like this! What a fun idea!!
