I googled “how to wear a faux fur vest” and found plenty of results, but little help. I don’t find text descriptions, Polyvore outfits, or runway photos useful. I’d rather see real-life stylings. Kyla’s archives to the rescue:

One of the lamest bits of “advice” I read was to only pair a furry vest with very ordinary pieces. Bor-ing! Just look how great Kyla’s vest looks with starburst pants or a peach chiffon skirt. I can’t wait to wear mine with winter shorts or a dramatic skirt
So, how do you wear a faux fur vest? Any way you want, as long as you wear it with confidence.
a love the vest on you and the inspirational photos, and also your neckalace is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWhile I really am not a fan of the faux fur vest trend, I do think you styled it well. Looks good on you. I like the way Kyla styled it with the chiffon skirt too. Very unexpected but very cute.
ReplyDeleteI still love the dress you're wearing- it's so 1940's. And the fur vest is reminiscent of a jaunty fur cape...so I could see this same pairing take a very different turn in the future via accessories!
ReplyDeleteAnd I like Kyla's pairing with the peach chiffon best, too...
I recently got a faux fur vest in a swap too. I think they gave it away is because it is so hard to style, and you can really only wear it when it's cooler out. I like it with jeans, chunky jewelry and boots. I like to make it really edgy.

Is there a website where you arrange these swaps or was it a local friends thing? I want to start swapping items online kind of like swapbot, but for clothes and accessories. Anyone know of something?
ReplyDeleteTry styling the bulkiness of the vest with tighter clothing. Turtleneck, pencil skirt; that seems to work well for me. Also great with jeans and a silk button-down.
