Summer Mixers - Brown and White

Linen blazer and jersey tank, Forever 21. Slip (lace visible at neckline), thrifted. Skirt, Andre Oliver (thrifted). Peeptoes, Antonio Melani. Paillette necklace, Body Central. Paillette earrings, faux leather headband, and hair stick, Claire’s. Enamel flower pin, thrifted and vintage. Golden purse with seashell detail, Miss Lewis (thrifted and vintage).

In Style inspiration page

This is an inexpensive outfit with pieces mostly from the thrift store, Forever 21, and Claire’s. Even the shoes were cheap ($20 on sale at Dillard’s).

The purse and pin are two of my favorite thrift finds. You can also see that I’ve got my Lazy Girl’s Updo today in anticipation of more humid weather.

You forgot to include the blue toe nail polish! It's your splash of color. :-)

This is less colorful than usual for you, but I love it. As a matter of fact, I feel that I need this outfit.

Again, you are rockin' it! This is so elegant, sophisticated, well put together. The gold purse and pin are lovely details that bring it all together. One of my favorite outfits of yours. L

  5. I have that EXACT pin! I found it in my grandmother's things (she has been dead for about 25 years). Mine is "Monet" - is yours? Some of the enamel had come off a few of the petals and one of the leaves. I used "white-out" - et voila' - good as new. How absolutely wonderful that you found yours thrift-shopping!

  6. Oh this is lovely! You look beautiful as always. Love the clutch.

I have a question, if you don't mind: What's your take on necklaces with halter tops? I have a beautiful sundress that is a halter and a necklace that matches perfectly but for some reason, it feels weird wearing the 2 together.

  12. april - I think a necklace with a halter top can be tricky. I would think that a mid to long length strand of beads would work well. Or a long chain with a substantial pendant. Anything finer or shorter would probably look crowded by a halter top. But a choker COULD work.

I prefer long earrings with a halter top. They emphasize your neck and bare shoulders.

angie~* - from what I recall of the Trinny and Susannah books, they recommend a high-buttoned blazer to "lock and load" larger breasts. Honestly, I think that look is matronly. A blazer like this one is going to emphasize the difference between the size of your chest and waist, but I think that's a GOOD thing. I suppose it depends on how comfortable you are with drawing attention to your curvy shape.

anon - I'm not currently in any shows. I guess you spotted my twin. :)
