Same Old Fake Missoni

Missoni-esque faux wrap dress, Lipstick. Metallic khaki bolero, No Boundaries. Headband, Claire’s. Blue handbag, Wilson’s Leather. Khaki slingbacks, Linea Paolo. Faux pearl cuff, Forever 21. Cat, Yoda aka Smunch.

Same old missoni-esque wrap dress I scored for under $10 at Body Central and have worn a thousand times:

This is neutral shoe week. You’ve surely noticed my penchant for brightly colored shoes, but I often wear khaki/tan heels in the summer. Worn with bare legs or nude fishnets, the shoes create the illusion of longer, slimmer legs. I consider nude heels as much of a staple as black. I read recently (on a YLF forum post) that some people don’t like a flesh-colored shoe because of the lack of visual impact. I was surprised. Do you own nude shoes and do you wear them?

$10?!? Score! I love that dress too.

Yes, I own and wear nude heels for the very reason you stated. Sometimes an outfit doesn't need visual impact at the floor and a "barefoot" look is just right.

I have nude shoes and wear them for the same reason you stated. My husband hates them though (and anything "flesh" toned) and calls them my "granny" shoes.

I love this dress and seeing how many different combos you can put together with it. As for the nude heels, I love how they look on other people, but always feel a bit weird in them myself. I have a pair of nude color patent mary janes and now that it is spring I need to reintroduce them into my wardrobe.

  8. this isn't about nude shoes...but...your bag. I love it!

I've always wondered if you and other fashionistas ever tire of putting your stuff in a different purse/handbag each morning? As you seem to always successfully coordinate your purse with your outfit (when you include it in the photo), there must always be some switcheroo.

Even the occasional minor transfer of essential crap from my daybag to an evening clutch can drive me nuts...and my purse stash isn't even that large compared to some.

Any tips on matching bags to outfits, also, by the way? I haven't followed your blog that long so you may have addressed this before...

  9. CPB - I often don't carry a purse to work at all. I carry a big black tote and just stuff my wallet, keys, phone, lipstick in there. This week, and when I know I have a lunch appointment, I made an effort to pick out purses when I planned all my outfits on the weekend.

When I DO switch purses, I really don't mind. I only carry the four things mentioned above, so it isn't difficult. It IS annoying when my wallet won't fit and I have to pull my licence and debit card out of my wallet to slip into the purse.

I've collected quite a few purses and it just seems to be a shame to let them sit unused!

I have heard about the lengthening that a neutral shoe does and am on the search for the perfect pair!
