Dress, Max Studio. Cardigan, Moda International. Obi-style belt, Sugadaminka (ebay). Necklace, Xhilaration. Bag, Franco Sarto. Pumps, X Appeal. Sunnies, Walgreen’s. Bracelets, swap.
I’ve always thought this dress’ print was a bit art deco. With the right accessories, though, it more strongly resembles a geometric ikat pattern.
I bought this obi-style belt from ebay seller Sugadaminka in early 2007 and this is only the fourth time I’ve worn it. I really must wear it more often. Any suggestions on what to pair it with?
Max Studio makes some great dresses. I usually buy them at TJ Maxx...they are well made and you can find some unique patterns.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the dress! Great Blog by the way.
ReplyDeletecool blend
ReplyDeleteI would never think to pair this together but it is a great look!
ReplyDeleteI love that Obi especially with the white shirt.
ReplyDeleteOMG, that belt is great. You are right, you must wear it more often. Those whole outfit is nice.
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit! How about wearing that belt with the deep pink sleeveless shirt (from your 7/11/08 post)...maybe with a black cami or layering tee underneath?
ReplyDeleteGreat look, especially when you take in the complete look from a distance you can see it comes together very well.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, we have just come back from a 16-day family holiday/reunion in the northern hemisphere (all around the Mediterranean area), and which included few formal occasions.
While packing for our trip (five of us) I checked out your blog for ideas on what to wear for a northern hemisphere summer and applied your wardrobe ideas (repeating items with different looks) to not only myself but our 11 year old daughter (and unbeknownst to him, my husband!). Needless to say all our outfits were suitable and apart from a leather jacket (for cooler evenings in mountainous areas) my husband insisted on taking, everything was worn and looked great.
We are now back to a very cold and wet winter in Sydney, so I am checking out your winter outfits for ideas.
Thanks again!
Mervat.
Wonderful look, as always! I would never have thought to do the pattern mixing, but you pull it off nicely.
ReplyDeleteCute! What about trying your belt over a red dress or top. Or maybe hot pink.
ReplyDeleteI love the belt with that dress. As other commenters have stated, I wouldn't have thought to do it, but the outfit is very cool.
ReplyDeleteI think one thing that makes it work in this scenario (other than the patterns) is the sweater. From the front, it takes a few visual inches off of each side (not that you have inches you need to lose) to offset the effect of the horizontal line right there. Maybe you can try it under some other sweaters or jackets.
I'll also throw in my vote for hot pink or red--and the white looked nice too.
Oh, BTW, speaking of leopard print... do you have any idea where I can find a leopard print scarf? I'm looking for a small little silky scarf to tie around my neck. I have found large wrap-style scarves (similar to yours from yesterday), but not just a regular bandana-sized scarf.
ReplyDeleteThis is another one of those outfits I adore because the accessories blend so well. It's very sophisticated and chic. Love it.
ReplyDeleteYou hair looks gorgeous today!
ReplyDeleteHello - I like this tribal outfit... two thumbs up!! oh and Semper Fi
ReplyDeleteThe belt is HOT!
ReplyDeleteI second (or third) this belt and a red or hot pink combo. But I also think you could rock it with a yellow top, or some khaki stuff (definitely go for the safari look).
ReplyDeleteI am now coveting an Obi belt...
ReplyDeleteI love the white button down outfit. Super cute belt.
