Blazer

Blazer, stolen from New Gate (Hi, Karen!). Dress, Lipstick. Tights, Target. Boots, White Mountain. Necklace, thrifted. Bangle, NY & Co. Bag, Wal*Mart.

This was a wonderfully inexpensive outfit. The boots, at around $20, were the priciest item. The blazer was the least expensive: free!

I tried a messy side bun today. It was a bit unkempt when I left the house this morning, but got much messier after being smooshed against the orthodontist’s chair and then shaken during aerobics. The trauma just added to its charm, in my opinion.

What is your advice for the most comfortable brand of tights? You are fit, so I'm sure you don't have issues with tights digging into your belly/hips, but I thought I'd ask anyway. I love the look of tights, but hate how they feel around my middle—despite my being in average shape.

  2. You might try a lower rise tight. I have some from Hue and the waistband is well below my belly button. Some brands advertise the lower rise on the package. Others are trial and error!

Or you can fold over hi-rise tights so that the waistband cuts across your hips. It's more comfortable, but can leave you with a "muffin" lump.

  3. I just found your blog, and don't take this the wrong way, but I freakin LOVE you! I have just started a clothing-strike, having decided to not buy any new clothing until 2009. I am in desperate need of ideas for new pairings and outfits out of old clothes and your blog has absolutely inspired!

    Love the red hair too:)

I have no idea how to work a scarf. I put them on and feel stupid. How do you tie them?

  6. Sarah - what kind of scarf is it? Square or oblong? Indoor or outdoor?

  7. LOL, Okay, if you are going to steal the costumes, spell our name right! New Gate! (Newgate is a prison in England). Nice outfit!

  8. Very sharp! As I said before, I like how you take things that I wouldn't think would work together, and make them do.

  10. Aw, Karen, I fixed "New Gate." I'll also give the blazer back when I'm done with it. :)

  11. I was looking for inexpensive boots like yours last year, and had no luck whatsoever. THIS year however, I am finding them everywhere. I love being able to kick around in a dress or skirt and actually be comfortable in my shoes.
