Death Knell

Jacket, Mossimo. Dress, Newport News. Earrings, Sin City. Brass bangle, World Market. Wooden bangle, swap. Bag, Franco Sarto. Pumps, Wild Diva. Ring, Jan Michaels San Francisco

I don’t make a habit of complaining about my outfits on my blog, but this one left me cold. Khaki has never been a good color on me and true white is a bit iffy. The little pops of color I added were not enough to save my complexion from looking corpselike.

I’ve paired this jacket and dress together once before. The result was better when the blazer was unbuttoned to reveal a blue-green shirt beneath.

If only I could have lived in a watercolor world today. I think I would have been happier with my palette.

  1. I wondered if you ever wore an outfit you hated. Sometimes I wear an outfit and might like the pieces with other things but together - well, I can't wait to get home and vow to never wear it again.
I love your mirror poses, one blonde and the other red. It reminds me of The Parent Trap, both versions. I loved that movie both with Hayley Mills and the remake with Lindsey Lohan.

i dont think the outfit looks bad at all. but it is much more neutral + not as exciting color-wise as what you usually show us. i do love the touches of color, though. :)

  3. I think you definitely need some colour near your face, especially being pale and now blonde.

It's not a bad outfit, but I know where you're coming from. I have lots of outfits that I end up loathing by the end of the day. Good to know you have "off" days too.

  5. It still looks cute! And nice to go more neutral for the day.

  6. Love the shoes! They make the outfit! I don't think you look that pale.

  7. Fantastic shoes!

Are you finding there are some things you like more/don't like so much with your new hair colour?

  8. The pops of color do help a lot, but I know what you mean. I tend to stay away from all khaki outfits too, for the same reason.

  9. I have dark hair and LOVE khaki, but have trouble finding ways not to make it wash me out either. I mostly pair it with grey or black.
And I'm curious like the other commenter - are there things you are finding don't work with the blonde hair as opposed to when it was red? You can definitely pull off this look, but I based my last hair coloring on your old red and I'm totally thrilled! Don't think I'll be able to follow you down the blonde road, however. I know my limits.

  10. I think khaki is even harder to wear as a blonde than it was as a redhead. So far, though, I haven't found any color that I could wear with red hair that I can't with blond. Maybe mustard yellow looked better with the red...

  12. WOW- I have to disagree- maybe you looked at yourself in fluorescent light because I think those colors look great on you in the natural light! Or maybe I love browns so much I want to dissuade you...
The purse, jacket and skirt are all so great together!
