About eight years ago, I met my sister Brina to go running around Lake Sacajawea wearing these leggings. She took one look and asked me if I had saved them from the actual 1980s. No, thank you very much, I bought them this century, at the PX. And, look, they’re in style** again!
*I know you can't see the leggings' sheen in the photos, but, trust me, they are SHINY!
**at least, according to American Apparel.
Long-time lurker of your blog, but I just gotta say: I know you're from my hometown, but I often forget. Until you throw in a good Lake Sacajawea reference! Oh, I miss that lake.
ReplyDeleteI feel like everything I wore as a kiddo is back in style, so why should shiny leggings be an exception? You're totally rocking them! =)
ReplyDeleteYou look great wearing leggings as pants! I love that scarf, too. And everything at American Apparel is shiny, even their underwear, so have no shame!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Julia
Hi Kasmira! Like the last commenter, I've been following your blog for a while now, but never said hello until now. I especially liked how you re-purposed your USMC skirt. I spent 9 years in the Army National Guard, so when I saw that post I literally RAN to my closet to pull out my dress uniform. Unfortunately, my Army skirt is of such a low quality material and is so ill-fitting, I just don't think any amount of embellishing can help it. Guess I should have been a Marine!
ReplyDeleteI love your unique style and have to admit that I've copied more than a few of your outfits, adding my own flavor. You've inspired me to add pieces that don't exactly "match" to an otherwise chic but plain outfit.
I've wanted to start an outfit diary of my own, but after posting one to my facebook page and putting up with my "friends" comments, I'm terrified to find out what total strangers might say.
Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I think your blog is snazzy!
*studiously ignores the leggings* Ha! Sorry, Kasmira! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the scarf and the long grey sweater - you look so tall in this picture!
There is nothing wrong with leggings as pants! Especially seeing as you wear them so well.
ReplyDeleteno shame! i very rarely wear real pants... so much so that my friends make fun of me for it...
ReplyDeleteLeggings as pants depends on your body type, honestly.
ReplyDeleteYou're so fit and lean, you can wear them effectively. I don't think you need to feel any shame in wearing them to begin with! Keep on struttin' them leggings, girl! :D
If a lard-arse like me were to attempt such a feat, it wouldn't be nearly as successful. No, no, no.
You're so brave! I can't do the no-pants thing, i feel exposed.
ReplyDeleteI've said it before and I'll say it again....you look fabby!! No shame necessary, I love the entire outfit!
ReplyDeleteI love the scarf! It gives your outfit a great pop of color. I think leggings are OK if the top is long enough which yours is!
ReplyDeletei forgot my password for gmail and had to spend such a long time looking for where i had written it down... all so i could log on and say that i love your scarf! Do you have pictures of it when it's open? I collect scarves and am oh so sad that it's spring here in australia and too warm for scarves. I love yours!! all those lovely colours. Lovely!! As for the pants, you're thin babe, you can pull it off!
ReplyDeleteWow!!! Amazingly cool boots!!! Hope I can find ones like those in Spain for my girlfriend!!! Amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteI love everything about this outfit... except the leggings, sorry! My mind superimposed a pair of skinny, semi-destroyed jeans instead and it looked fabulous. =P Also, I love the incongruous use of cowboy boots. Very spiffy!
ReplyDeleteI love leggings and am glad they're back in style (hey...my legs are the only skinny thing about me, lol). I love this outfit. You look comfortable and styish. I can't see the sheen on the leggings so I can't comment on that, but in general I give leggings a thumbs up..so long as the bum is covered, of course.
