Skirt in Waiting

I’ve had this skirt for six years, but I wear it with less and less frequency. I keep it because the fit is comfortable and it’s 98% cotton. I don’t wear it much because . . . well, I don’t know.

Blouse, Maeve (consignment). Skirt, Andre Oliver (thrifted). Shoes, Nine West. Sunglasses, Target. Bag, Charming Charlie. Necklace, Zad.

Flickr was down during my usual blogging time, so I created a graph of my declining wears (complete with snapshots of the first, middle, and last outfits). Each brown diamond represents an outfit with this skirt along the timeline:

Nerd alert!

Today, I was reminded of why this skirt has escaped multiple closet culls. It’ll stick around a bit longer.

  1. I have similar situations with clothes that I've had for a long time.

There's nothing wrong with a piece, but you just get bored of seeing it there in the closet. Then one day you wear it, and bam! It's all good again. Glad to see you rediscovering your love for it - it's a super skirt.

  2. I'm of the opposite opinion--if you haven't worn it in a year, to the donation pile it goes!!

  3. Ha! I love the timeline!

How do you have the camera focus on you when you're taking self-portraits? Can Beefy make a video of you taking self-portraits? :)

Maybe the bold solid tops aren't the match for you. You just haven't found the the right pattern mix--of which you are famous! Give that skirt a houndstooth or plaid ;)

  6. Terrific skirt and outfit. You should wear it more often.

  7. probably you need to wear one of those sheer tulle long skirts OVER that skirt to liven it up...maybe hot pink or lime green or something..
