Memorial Day Remembered

The day after Memorial Day seems like appropriate timing to wear my repurposed uniform skirt from my USMC days. Naturally, I’ve accessorized with earrings made with ammunition casings.

Blouse, Romeo + Juliet Couture. Skirt, USMC. Bracelet, Pangaea. Earrings, Jana’s Designs. Shoes, BCBGeneration. Bag, Payless.

This is the skirt from my USMC service uniform. I added the black lace trim at the waist and hem. Here’s how I’ve worn it as a civilian:

  16. I love it. I almost want to run to my nearest Army Surplus store so I can buy a military skirt, but I don't feel worthy of it since I've never been in the military. PS. Thanks for your service to our great country.

  18. Your USMC service uniform skirt is WAY more flattering than my USAF service skirt ever was. Did you have to alter it to get it so pegged, or was it always that awesome?

  19. Arya - this is the shape it's always been...I wish it were a bit more pegged and less straight.
