Vanity

At the end of my June budget post, I announced the items I’d be looking to purchase in July: red, summery, work-appropriate heels and black ballet flats made from thin leather or canvas. I asked for reader suggestions and Zeus’ Mom came through with a link AND a coupon code for the first item. I got these babies for $21.26 (with free shipping)!

Hat, Betmar. Vest, Forever 21. Dress, London Times. Shoes, Two Lips.* Earrings, Urban Outfitters. Bag, Payless.

I could not WAIT for these shoes to arrive. My other pair of Two Lips is wildly comfortable, so I had high hopes for this pair. I was so excited to receive my shoes that I planned an outfit for them last weekend, just in case they should arrive in time. They showed up last night and I’m wearing that outfit today.

As I expected, the shoes are comfortable. I could hardly tell I was wearing 4-inch heels. My only complaint is the buckle on the ankle strap; it sits right on my anklebone and chafed after walking a few blocks. Totally worth it, though.

*At first, I typed the brand name as “Toe Lips.” That sounds really dirty. I don't even WANT to know what happens if you Google that phrase.

  1. Ha, toe lips, hee hee!

Those are some sweet, sweet shoes, Kasmira. I can't resist an ankle strap either, but yeah, they can really bite into one's ankle if they're not just right.

Awesome outfit - love that vest.

  2. Those are amazing shoes. I think ankle straps always look cute, but agree that they are not always comfortable. They look good with your planned outfit.

  3. Heehee toe lips!

Awesome outfit. You're doing one of my fav color combos with all three primaries. Cutecute

The shoes are way cuter when worn. They feel so-so in the picture alone but are waaay cute on!

  6. Wow, I would never have thought to combine those pieces but I just love how the dress and vest look with the red shoes. It's such a cute combo.

And I agree with Megan. The shoes are cute in the store photo but super-foxy on you.

  14. Try sticking a corn pad or a bit of moleskin under the strap at the buckle after you've put them on - too cute to hurt!
