On Trial: Ugly Pants

Denim jacket, Dalia Collection. Cami, Deep Los Angeles. Ugly pants, Express. Brown booties, Style & Co. Wooden bangle, swap. Brass bangle, World Market. Earrings, Xhilaration.

Detail of the trousers’ print

These are ugly, even fugly, pants. I’ve always know that, but I thought they were ugly in a good grandpa chic way. Here’s how I’ve worn them since starting this blog:

Today is the first time I’ve worn the pants in just over a year. I don’t think they are working for me. Time to go on trial! (I haven’t convened fashion court since last October!)
What should I do with the pants?
Keep them
Swap them
Alter them
Give them to charity
Other - I'll tell you in te comments

  1. I voted swap because there's nothing wrong with the trousers, I quite like them. But if you're not wearing them, someone else should get them who will wear them.

  2. I liked the pants, but I know how it is to have a piece of clothing that you keep giving chances to but still aren't happy. There's nothing wrong with them per se, so swap them - that way you'll get something you like for something you don't like.

  3. I'm pretty sure I had those pants! They made me look ridiculously wide and I ended up giving them to charity but they look way better on you than they did on me...

  5. I try not to take it personally when you always rag on something I own or do. :)

I think that they aren't unflattering as long as they are always paired with darks. light and light and you might disappear.

But if you haven't worn in a year.... ditch em!!!

  6. There's nothing wrong with them, but I think that, comparted to all of the really bold pieces you own and wear, these come across as dull and boring. I could do without the hint of pink in them (gag, I am not fond of pink).

Give them away - either through swap or to charity - and get another pair in a slightly bolder plaid (see the ones I wore yesterday - how's that for coincidence?).

  7. Swap them. They are not the most exciting thing you own, you don't love them but they aren't shabby or anything. Someone else might be able to really work them.

  8. Oh man you have really smart readers...
I was also going to say swap them because while I think they look good, and you've made them work well, you're probably going to hate them every time you wear them, so you might as well give someone else a chance with them. There's no reason to resent your clothing--it should make you happy :)
    Good luck!

  9. If you're not feeling them, swap them. You haven't worn them in a year, so you probably won't miss them.

  10. I agree with everyone else. Swap them. They are cute, but compared with other things you wear, they aren't you.

I agree that the pants are fine, but you aren't into them, pass them on and make room for something you love in your closet

  12. I really like those pants, and the stuff you have paired them with. I wonder if you'll appreciate them more once its a bit cooler? They seem like a very fall style.

  13. I really like them, and I think I own them. I don't wear mine, though, because they don't fit me well. They look like they do, but they're just not comfortable.

I guess if you don't wear them, though, you might as well swap them.

  14. I think they're a decent neutral pair of pants, and I think they'll look better paired with dark colors, like dark green or dark plum.

  15. Hi! Perhaps you can help! I recently bought a pair of cargo khaki pants in the clearance section of ross for like $7. I love the way they look and feel, so I decided to look the collection online. Much to my surprise it is a semi-couture collection that I cant seem to find where to buy anywhere! Can you only buy this collection online? Or is there a store that sells the Dalia Collection. Please help! :)

  16. The Sample Queen - I bought my jacket at TJ Maxx. I've never seen the label anywhere else, so I don't think I can be of much help!
