Owl Patches

I seem to be collecting owl appliqués, but don’t have a plan for incorporating them into my wardrobe. Help me get these cuties out of my sewing box!

Should I attach a patch to a skirt? Emblazon a blazer? Convert them to brooches?

I studded an owl onto a skirt and one of my owl brooches is permanently attached to my Dex jacket.

I glued brooch backs to this appliqué so that I didn’t have to commit.

What do you suggest?

  1. The little owl patch in the package, you should sew onto a back pocket of a pair of your jeans. : )

  2. The very first thing I thought of was a play on those obnoxious 80s crested yacht club blazers with the sequined owl on the pocket instead of the crest. Bling-y gold buttons would still be required.

  5. Back in the 70s the cool people would decorate the back center panel of their jean jackets with embroidery and such...I could see a scene incorporating several owls, or maybe a crazy quilt type look.

Attatch the sequined one to a simple headband, positioned so he's standing.

LOVE the owls, by the way!

  7. Oh I love how your floral lapel looks on the blazer!

I like the idea of it being a pin so you can change your mind, that is the perfect solution for indecision!

    Chic on the Cheap

  9. When I was in first grade I felt left out because everyone had alergies except me. So I told everyone (including teachers) that I was alergic to owls. No one ever questioned me. But then a year later we discovered that I was, infact, severely alergic to many things, so I dropped the owl thing. Again, no one ever questioned me...

    Anyway.

I love that sequin-y owl and I think he'd look really cute on a purse. I think the plain-ish brown one would look cute in the bottom corner of a cardigan :)

  10. I would use the sequin owl covering the fastener on a one-button blazer or maybe even attach one of them on a flat belt buckle.

  12. I like the idea of using one of them on a headpiece/headband somehow.

All the owls are adorable! It seems like I'm seeing a lot of owl and turtle accessories right now.

  13. Owl is my favourite bird. You should sew the patch on the back of a solid coloured jacket or bolero. It will look great.

  14. I think making a brooch out of them is a good idea-you can always move them around and use them in many of the ways already suggested here without having to committ
