Grape Legs

I’m getting the feeling that brightly colored tights are passé. Maybe that’s because skinny jeans and trousers are trending over dresses and skirts. A skirted silhouette works best on my shape (and I love color!), so my bright tights will stay in rotation, fashionable or not.

Jacket, H&M (thrifted). Sweater, Banana Republic (thrifted and gifted). Tee, Jones New York (thrifted). Skirt, London Jean. Tights, We Love Colors. Boots, Dan Post. Hat, World Market (I embellished it by sewing on a broken brooch). Earrings, Target. Sunglasses, Girl Props. Ring, Black Hills Gold.

You can expect to see mustard, cherry, cranberry, olive, and grape (although they tend to photograph as “blueberry”) legs on my blog this fall and winter. Will you wear colored tights? Or are they on the outs for you?

Some of my past favorite bright legged looks:

I wish I took a picture of my outfit yesterday... I wore my purple tights too!

I had on a top that was mostly black but had some purple in it, with a mesh like sweater over it, the puple tights layered with basic black fishnets over them and my knee high black boots.

I don't know why I am so into tights this year. But my hubby don't seem to mind. :)

I'm with you - bright tights are here to stay for me. They can take a basic outfit to a whole new level!

Could it be that you just see fewer pairs of tights in CA than you did in OH? I know you're in northern CA, but still.

I will keep right on wearing bright tights here in Boston. They'll have to pry them from my cold, dead legs.

  7. I was out shopping yesterday and what I kept seeing was color jeans, and jean with crazy mad patterns. Bright colors not just the usual range of blues. The prints were animal, geometric, floral, you name it. I like jeans, but get a tired of blue.
PS: colorful tights are fun to wear.

  8. I have never been a colored tights girl. I have nothing against them, just never have chosen them for myself. However, I say if you love something, wear it with pride and who cares whether's it's "in" or not!! :)

  9. I only just got into fun tights this year, and I love them! I'm only sorry I live in a warm climate with only a few months of stocking-wearing weather.

  10. I will keep wearing my colored tights (and my skirt) no matter what is "trendier" at the moment. I prefer myself in skirts, have some great boots to show, plus, it's more feminine. And you get noticed in a sea of skinny pants!

I love tights and hose and how they add dimension to a look, whether they are in a silky skintone or a pop of color. Unfortunately its currently on trend to skip tights and pantyhose most days, along with slips and other undergarments that enhance and add to feminine grace.

  13. I love your tights! They look great on you. I'm off up north and will be packing my chevron ones, stripy ones (mostly black) and a couple of racy numbers with open holes on the sides with some mini skirts. Nothing sleazy... Tights are it! I wish companies would make them looser at the top tho... I'm tiny and 5 foot and still find large ones annoying at the waist. But besides all that, you rock 'em.
