It is a casual look, best suited to evenings and weekends. When I do wear a knotted shirt to the office, I ensure no skin is visible at the waistline and that my outfit has no other casual elements.
Angie recently asked her readers what they thought of the knotted shirttail trend. Many were not a fan of the look, objecting to the reveal of skin, the bulk of the knot, or the unsuitability of the style for an apple shaped body or short torso. (I have a short torso, myself, but a slim upper half, so it isn't usually an issue.)
Do you like this look on yourself or others?
I'm short torsed as well, and I do like the look. I think it depends on the fabric of the shirt, however, and whether or not it hits at my natural waist.
ReplyDeleteI like the look on others, but despite my best efforts I don't have a 'nip' in my waist and find it difficult to tie up shirts, shirttailed or no. The balance tends to be wrong on me.
ReplyDeleteTo a big-chested girl all button-up shirts pose a bit of a problem, but knotted shirt tails only emphasize the bust, which when you're over endowed, should be avoided at all costs so I can't say I'm a fan of the look.
ReplyDeleteI like it and have done it several times myself.
ReplyDeleteI love the look on others - I have tried it myself about twice.
ReplyDeleteI need to practise more with the know and my tummy is not as toned so wouldn't bare any flesh. Your looks are fab.
ReplyDeleteInspired by you and Psyche of Economy of Style, I've been knottin' the button front shirts, and wearin' them to the law office. But I do make sure the shirt is well-tailored, no midriff is showing, and the overall effect is kind of classic casual.
