Align

I initially paired this shirt and dress because I liked how the patterns played together. Then, I realized that the shirt’s open back would align with the dress’ upper back cutout. I love it when little details like that work out.

Holy Sweater

What sort of sweater do you wear when the temps dip down to 88 degrees? One that’s full of holes. Or one that’s been blessed by a priest. Take your pick.

Lou's

My schedule doesn’t accommodate much food preparation, so, when I get to eat lunch, I eat out. Beefy is pretty jealous that my route takes me past the best eateries in the area. He’s stuck with Jamba Juice, Jack in the Box, and an admittedly pretty good Thai place near his work. I make it up to him by agreeing to return to my lunch haunts for dinner.

Dress (worn as a shirt), Eddie Bauer (thrifted). Skirt, vintage, thrifted, shortened, and embellished. Shoes, Gianni Bini. Sunglasses, Target. Earrings, vintage. Bracelets, Tala’s Distant Treasures, gift, and Mixit. Bag, Gianni Bini.

Last August

Sometimes, when I’m struggling with the eternal “what to wear?” I look back through my archives to see what I wore last year at this time. In August of 2013, I wore this silk, leopard-print dress. It worked in August of 2014, too.

Need Knees

I don’t think full, knee-length skirts are currently fashionable. Skater skirts and midi-skirts (that look to be cut from a ballgown) are far more trendy, but maybe not as wearable. I’m always flashing my goods in a short skirt and that ballgown would certainly tangle around my legs as I got in and out of my low-slung sedan. So, it’s a serviceable, if not stylish, knee-length for me.

Army Pants

Today I was asked if I wore pants like these in the Army. The answer is “no.” The trousers (not pants) I wore in the Marines (not Army) were giant, stiff, rectangles. When freshly starched, it was like donning cardboard instead of cloth. I much prefer ruched silk for non-combat wear.
