Usual Rock

I’m back, perched on my usual rock, underneath the Watt Avenue bridge. The river is still high (you can see leftover standing water behind me) and the parking area is still closed, but I can hike in for pictures at my accustomed spot.

Nonfunctional

Let’s be honest: this jacket is a joke. It did nothing to keep me warm in freezing temps, walking around midtown. But it’s really cute, right? And I managed to zip it up. Well, zip it up to my boobs. I relied on this vintage fur from Beefy’s aunt to keep the upper half covered.

Green Velvet Red Lips

We spent Christmas Day with some barely relatives, at Beefy’s cousin’s husband’s sister’s house. You’d never know we were so distantly related by the warmth of their welcome or the spread on the table (crab legs, prime rib, and pecan pie). Hospitality like that deserved my festive best.

Roll or Rut

I’ve now worn this shirt two days in a row. You could say I’m in a rut. Or that this flannel is on a roll!

Colors of the Season

It doesn’t have to be late December for me to pair red and (olive) green. It’s one of my favorite color combos.

Editing

I spent most of the day editing photos. I finished the boudoir photos from Friday and The Everyday Elevated pics from Sunday. I’ve included one favorite image from each, at the end of this post.

The editing was very minimal: just straightening, correcting levels, and brushing away the odd blemish. Every minute I spend “fixing” an image just reminds me to take better (and fewer) photos in the first place! (I did apply a filter to the boudoir photo, below, but gave all the images to the model with no filters.)

Be my BFF

Do you want to be my BFF? I have the following requirements:

1. Must love on my animals.
2. Must eat the food and drink the beverages I prepare (and at least pretend to like them).
3. Must watch Logan’s Run.

That last one is the true test of our friendship. If you sit through the entire movie, we will be best friends forever.

Yes, Beefy and my friend Colette passed this test long ago. Today, my friends Jeff and Leah joined the inner circle. No one has passed that final requirement in a good six years.


Condition number one is pretty important, too. I’ll clean before you come over, but you will still leave covered in fur. I’m not sure how that happens…


And, of course, condition number two is a no-brainer. I’m an excellent chef and mixologist.

I Shot Lisa

My calendar is filling up with photography appointments. It’s starting to look like an assassin’s daybook with “shoot Lisa,” “shoot Sam,” “shoot Julia.” I may want to reconsider how I title the bookings.
