Be my BFF

Do you want to be my BFF? I have the following requirements:

1. Must love on my animals.
2. Must eat the food and drink the beverages I prepare (and at least pretend to like them).
3. Must watch Logan’s Run.

That last one is the true test of our friendship. If you sit through the entire movie, we will be best friends forever.

Sweater, Worthington (thrifted). Tunic, Wet Seal (thrifted). Boots, Blondo. Earrings, Article (consignment).

Yes, Beefy and my friend Colette passed this test long ago. Today, my friends Jeff and Leah joined the inner circle. No one has passed that final requirement in a good six years.

Condition number one is pretty important, too. I’ll clean before you come over, but you will still leave covered in fur. I’m not sure how that happens…

And, of course, condition number two is a no-brainer. I’m an excellent chef and mixologist.

Dogwalk to Sidewalk

I look completely unpresentable after agility. I treat Jasper with chicken and wipe my greasy hands on the utility vest I wear for class. Still, my fingers retain a film that attracts dirt from the dusty arena. It takes all my discipline not to brush hair from my eyes and inadvertently smear the dirt and grease across my face and in my hair. The dirt coats my shoes and sticks to my jeans when I kneel or squat to give Jasper attention. To quote my friend, Lauren, I look “totally homeless” by the time class concludes.

Usually, this isn’t an issue since I go from agility to bed (sometimes changing, first), but there is the rare occasion when class is held in the daytime and I might like to go somewhere afterwards. For this transition, I changed footwear and threw a nice poncho over my jeans and hoodie. I dusted off the jeans and stashed the greasy utility vest in my trunk. I won’t win any style awards, but I look like I at least tried to be presentable.

Poncho, Christopher & Banks (gift). Hoodie and tee, Mossimo. Jeans, Old Navy. Booties, Blondo. Sunglasses, Earthbound Trading Co. Bag, Steve Madden.

For those unfamiliar with the sport of dog agility, the green thing in the background of the below picture is a “dogwalk:”

Screen Time

I didn’t go shopping on Black Friday, but I didn’t #optoutside either. Instead, I spent way too much time looking at screens: computer screens, phone screens, movie screens. But I did it in pattern mixing style.

Kimono, Carole Little (thrifted). Dress, Express. Belt, Lucky (consignment). Tights, Jockey. Boots, Sofft (consignment). Sunglasses, Earthbound Trading Co. Earrings, Francesca’s Closet. Purse, Rebecca Minkoff.

My battery died before I got to take a detail shot of the belt pattern, so I snagged one with my phone.

I didn’t manage to snap a photo of my Thanksgiving outfit. The day was a blur (and included a mid-day ballet class)! The only pictures I took all day were of the dogs playing outside before all the cooking (and dancing) started.

The Things We Do

Another basketball game, another lame attempt at wearing some purple. These are the things we do for those, we love. Watching sports is a supreme form of torture for me. However, I was pleased to find Otra Vez on tap at the new arena. And there were baby races during a time out.

Poncho, Aziza. Denim shirt, Mossimo. Tunic, Rachel Roy (consignment). Boots, Style & Co (thrifted). Bag, Rebecca Minkoff.

The walk to and from the lightrail was cold (for Sacramento), so I pushed the poncho into a giant scarf and wore a down-filled jacket over my outfit.

Waffle and a Blazer

After seeing these patterns together, I couldn’t wait to pair this paisley velvet blazer with this fox-print waffle shirt. Halloween and pub trivia seemed to be the right occasion.

Blazer, BSB (thrifted). Shirt, Mossimo. Jeans, Old Navy. Boots, Lauren Ralph Lauren. Bag, Steve Madden. Earrings, Charming Charlie.

To make this the lamest nod at Halloween, ever, I added kitty ears and a bell collar.

My 365 photos are both about my morning runs with the dogs.

These three dogs live in a yard that borders an athletic field through which we run. I think there is a shed or a woodpile that they climb to peek over the 6 foot fence. Once, one of them jumped the fence and it was terrifying.

Jackson loves his runs, but hates the harness. He runs and hides when I pull it out. He isn’t a good hider.

Two Interviews

I had two very different interviews, today. One in the pet industry and the other in beauty. But I made one plaid chiffon blouse work for both!

Jacket, BCBG Max Azria (consignment). Blouse, Romeo + Juliet. Jeans, Old Navy. Boots, Steve Madden. Earrings, Rose Bowl Flea Market. Bag, Rebecca Minkoff.

Thankfully, this blouse does not retain pet hair. My pet interview was first and involved cuddling three tiny dogs.

Jacket, Diane von Furstenberg (consignment). Blouse, Romeo + Juliet. Skirt, Mossimo. Shoes, Nine West. Earrings, Rose Bowl Flea Market.

I wasn’t selected for either position, but Jackson comforted me:

I got some good, quality time with my dogs on Tuesday with a hike. We even saw some snow!

I Like Big Bags

Is there anything better than carrying a giant bag? I managed to fit a cutting board, 12-inch knife, and loaf of apricot-orange bread in this wool blanket bag. I wouldn’t take those contents through airport security, but I did take them to my Masters swim social.

Jacket, Mossimo. Dress, Express. Boots, Madden Girl. Sunglasses, Meow Meow. Earrings and brooch, vintage. Belt, Lucky Brand (consignment). Bag, El Paso Saddleblanket Co.

I think Jackson could smell the lingering odor of warm quick bread because he was awfully snuggly at picture time.

Too bad I couldn’t fit my egg white powder in here, too. I’m working on getting HUGE!
