Rainy Day Curls

When rain is in the forecast, I either reach for the curling iron or a hat. Sleek, straight hair is an impossibility when a storm front moves in.

I can’t complain about the rain. We need it, and we had beautiful weather for the weekend!


My volunteer group took ten kids to Point Reyes on Saturday. Some of them had never been to the ocean before!


Beefy and I took a photography class on Sunday. Afterwards, I played “model.”

Meetup

If you’re in the Sacramento area, I hope you join the Sacramento Fashion and Style Meetup! I attended the inaugural meeting today and can’t wait for the next one.

We met for coffee and then visited two boutiques in the downtown area: YSJ Vintage and the The Denim Spot. I was very pleased to be downtown so that I could pose with the capitol dome.


I’m now a member of ten* meetup groups, although I’ve only attended events for five of them. They range from fashion to writing to hiking to photography to sailing. I’m a woman of diverse interests! Now, back to that stack of book on my nightstand.


*It’s eleven now. As I wrote this, I was inspired to join another group!

Two Interviews

I had two very different interviews, today. One in the pet industry and the other in beauty. But I made one plaid chiffon blouse work for both!

Thankfully, this blouse does not retain pet hair. My pet interview was first and involved cuddling three tiny dogs.

Brickhouse

I met my Toastmasters mentee for lunch and discovered a new-to-me art gallery, The Brickhouse. The owner graciously let me take photos with a few of the outdoor murals. I’ll be back for the big Day of the Dead celebration on my birthday!

Witchy Woman

My parents were afraid I’d be a Halloween baby and forever cursed by Satan, but I held on for a few days. We never celebrated the evil holiday as children, but my grown sister is a Halloween fanatic, now. I enjoy watching the revelry, but seldom participate.

I don’t actually like the dark and shorter days. They make me sleepy. But I have an excuse to lie in bed and catch up on my blogs. Finally, my Feedly queue is at less than “499+” unread posts. (That’s as high as the count goes.)

Under the Bridge

You never know what you might find under the bridge. A man, parked in his car, smoking a joint. A shrine made from stones, crayfish claws, and a beer bottle cap. An oddly dressed woman posing for an unmanned tripod.

Live Scan

I had my fingerprints scanned for a certification, today. The scan reveals my (lack of) criminal record, but, honestly, says nothing about me as a person.

Just looking at my hands tells you so much more about me. I’m practical and lazy. I love to spend time outside, getting dirty. I cook. I’m in a committed relationship, but I’m not a traditionalist. I doubt the Live Scan will return those results.
