Keep It Legal

A surprising number of items in my wardrobe have one primary function: cover my butt so I can “legally” wear leggings as pants. I wear my leggings under short shorts, tunics, miniskirts, and, my favorite, this overall “dress.” It’s so convenient to go from lounge wear to street wear by just layering it over leggings and a top.

Vest, J Crew. Overall dress, Hydraulic (thrifted). Sweater, Charlotte Russe. Leggings, Xhilaration. Boots, Style & Co (thrifted). Sunglasses, Meow Meow. Earrings, Claire’s.

Conversely, I guess the leggings keep all my crotch scrapers “legal.” Without leggings, I’d always be flashing my goods since I rarely “sit like a lady” or do anything else “like a lady.” My ladylike days were over when we became dog people.

Make 'Do

I’m doing my best to embrace my natural, gray hair. The long bits are pink, but the undercut and regrowth are all salt and pepper.

Jacket, J Crew (consignment). Dress, Jovovich Hawk for Target. Leggings, Amour. Boots, Vince Camuto (consignment). Earrings, Claire’s. Bag, Clark’s.

At home, the dogs couldn’t care less what color my hair is. They also don’t care that I didn’t buy dog food and they have to eat samples for dinner. (They thought it was treats!)

Polar Bear Hug

Sheila has the “Unsafe Polar Bear” coat. I have the Polar Bear Hug: this white, furry vest. I’m sure it isn’t safe around open flame, either, but I don’t encounter much fire in my day-to-day.

Vest, Vero Moda (thrifted). Sweater, thrifted. Dress, Bebe. Tights, Me Moi. Boots, Lauren Ralph Lauren. Sunglasses, Giselle. Earrings, street fair.

Truly unsafe: me and Cadbury Creme Eggs. It’s an explosive combination.

Roar

This is the third place I tried outfit photos. The first two had lovely murals, but the light was not kind to my monthly body dysmorphia. I try to be all “I am woman, hear me roar,” but sometimes it’s more “I am woman, hear me bitch.”

Shirt, Mossimo. Skirt, Bass (thrifted). Belt, thrifted. Boots, Steve Madden. Earrings, Francesca’s Closet. Bag, Anne Klein (thrifted).

Unboxing

I have four product subscriptions: Audible, Netflix, Farm Fresh To You, and BarkBox. No Shoe Dazzle, GLOSSYBOX or Blue Apron. Beefy once gave me an olive-of-the month subscription, but that resulted in way too many olives. (I still have jars from that year.) What are your subscriptions?

Jacket, Xhilaration (thrifted). Dress, Equipment. Boots, Lauren Ralph Lauren. Earrings, vintage. Bag, Clark’s.

Today, the BarkBox came. Jasper is all about the toys, but Jackson is only interested in the treats. The grosser, the better, like this trachea.

Monday Holiday

How I love Monday holidays! I spent most of it with my gal pal thrifting and (late) brunching.

Jacket, Chap’s. Shirt, Old Navy. Shorts, Forever 21. Leggings, Allen B. Boots, Style & Co (thrifted). Sunglasses, Target. Earrings, My Sister’s Closet. Bag, thrifted.

The day was so beautiful that we didn’t even mind the long wait for a seat at the Tower Cafe. I wish every Monday were a sunny holiday!

Close Shave

I feel so good after a fresh haircut. @foxblossom refreshed my undercut and trimmed away some of my over-processed bits. I started this blog with longish hair, but I don’t know if I’ll ever want to grow it much longer than my chin again.

Jacket, Dex (swap). Sweater, Joseph A (thrifted). Shorts, Lassie. Boots, Style & Co (thrifted). Sunglasses, Target. Earrings and scarf, Claire’s. Bag, vintage.

Of course, who could resist short hair when their stylist is rocking a mini hawk this cute?

Please disregard my scarily giant right hand.

Shift Neutral

After yesterday’s spring pastels, it was so nice to wear black and brown today. I’m transitioning my wardrobe to all neutrals with accents of red and turquoise. I’m not ready to purge the oranges, yellows, purples, and pinks, but they are mostly neglected. A few of those pink items will certainly be discarded once I tire of the matching pink hair.

Blazer, J Crew (consignment). Dress, Parker (consignment). Leggings, Express. Boots, Joe’s. Sunglasses, Meow Meow. Earrings, Consignment. Bag, Clark’s.

Tonight’s sunset was anything but neutral:

Whisper Pink

My hair has faded to barely pink. I’ll be remedying that tonight. For today, though, it went nicely with the springtime colors in my outfit.

Jacket, London Jean. Shirt, Rockies (consignment). Skirt, Ann Taylor (thrifted). Boots, American Eagle (consignment). Bag, Croft & Barrow.

I’m using a “screaming pink” gloss formula to brighten up the color.
