How to Make a Bump without a Bumpit

As I’ve grown my hair out from a super short cut, and dealt with the damage of extreme color switches, the half-back bump has been my go-to hairstyle. A few people have asked if I get that bouffant look with a bumpit. Nope. I do it like this:

This is the technique I’ve used to get the hairstyles you see here:

I pinned up the back pieces in the last photo.

Thanks for sharing! It's so easy and simple but not something I would have thought to do on my own. I've been wondering how you get your hair to look so great like that. :)

I've seen a video of you before but I guess I forgot that you sound so much like Jenna Fischer/Pam from "The Office"! And that's a compliment--I think she has a pleasant voice. :)

Thanks for the tutorial and I Love how you accessorized your "bump"

Thanks for this! I've used this technique before but haven't quite mastered it. It makes sense to only do the top. I would sometimes end up with a "flop." :)

This also beats the tease method. Eye yi yi.

That's awesome - I didn't think it would be that easy. I don't like teasing my hair (it's super fine and is weak from colouring), but I think I could do that kind of bump once I have some length.

Thanks!

Hi, longtime lurker, first time commenter here. I just had to say how much fun your blog is! You always have such a cheerful attitude and your looks are so fun and flattering. I do wish that your pics were bigger so I could better see the details, but I really enjoy your blog. Thanks for being inspiring!

Thanks for the "how-to" video. I never would've thought it was that easy. No bump-it, not teasing! You're my hero.

I immediately tried this after watching your video and I love it!! I was doubtful that it would work with my long thick hair but it looked great. Thank you!!
