Wild Spaces

It isn’t unusual for me to enter my salons with muddy shoes and a bramble or two caught on my clothes. Just evidence that I took a little detour on my route to explore a wild place.

Cardigan, Etcetera (consignment). Dress, Parker. Turtleneck, Mossimo. Boots, Steve Madden. Hat, BCBG Max Azria. Bag, Target.

I found this spot in Elk Grove: train tracks, birds, and seclusion. Perfect!

Big Sunglasses

Ah, how I “heart” sunglasses. They prevent squinting AND look chic. I remember hearing about tinted eye drops* being developed to make sunglasses obsolete. But how could a murky brown film compete with the glamour of a pair of shades?

Jacket, Chaps. Dress, Parker. Boots, Lauren Ralph Lauren. Sunglasses, Target. Scarf, consignment.

The downside to big glasses is they seem way more likely to get scratched when thrown into the jumbled interior of my purse. If you are a lady in a mural, big glasses may be more likely to be tagged by a graffitist.

*Trying to find info on these alleged tinted drops took me down an internet rabbit hole that ended with a procedure that allows one to permanently change one’s eye color! I got so excited (and horrified) by this that I completely abandoned this blog entry until the next day.

Flat Start

It’s easier to transition from weekend to work week in flats. Hell, everything is easier in flats. Like wrangling my dogs, carrying eight pizzas at once, and eating way too much sugar in one sitting.

Vest, Tilt (cut from a consignment jacket). Dress, Parker. Shoes, Isaac Mizrahi. Sunglasses, no label. Earrings, Stardust Remembered. Bag, Target.

365 catch-up:

Sleepy Jasper. Finishing my skirt for my 40B440. A slice at SnoBites.

Die Summer Die

This looks like a spring outfit. The time of year is actually fall. But it feels like summer. I’m so over this hot weather.

Dress, Parker. Shoes, American Eagle (consignment). Sunglasses, Target. Earrings, vintage. Belt, thrifted. Bag, Loungefly.

I’m not tired of these amazing sunrises, though.

Californi-yay

The heat is absolutely miserable, but I still love California. It’s my favorite state. You’ve got the beaches in the West, the Sierra in the middle-ish, and alcohol simply everywhere.

Vest, Express (thrifted). Dress, Parker. Belt, Deena & Ozzy. Shoes, BCBG Paris. Earrings, Ali’s Boutique. Bag, Merona.

I especially love California’s unofficial mascot: the golden bear. The California grizzly is extinct, but still decorates the flag. This tiny version decorates my bookshelf.

Lazy Day-to-Night

There is usually a fancy dinner, requiring at least cocktail, if not formal, attire at our conferences. The other ladies manage to transform themselves in the 90 minutes between the last meeting and the start of the evening. They reappear dressed in satin, wearing false eyelashes, and sporting elaborate hairdos. I’m the laziest day-to-night dresser in the bunch. I usually just remove a layer and change accessories.

Day:

Blazer, James Jeans. Dress, Parker. Obi, Sugdamiinka. Shoes, Kelly and Katie. Earrigns, No Boundaries. Bag, Aldo.

Night:

Dress, Parker. Shoes, Nine West. Necklace, Banana Republic. Bag, vintage.

I was not lazy earlier in the day. My participation in the workshops earned me lots of “money:”
