Sourpuss

Sour beers are the new IPA. I love a bitter brew, myself, but find the sour a refreshing change. They aren’t very popular yet, which makes the hunt for a sour beer all the more fun.

Jacket, Mossimo. Skirt, Miss Avenue (consignment). Boots, Lauren Ralph Lauren. Sunglasses, Coco Sunglasses. Brooch, vintage. Bag, Nordstrom Rack.

We went to Cafeteria for dinner and I was disappointed that there were no sour beers on offer. I made do with IPA. Do you prefer sour or bitter?

Seeing Stars

We had a cool, wet, windy Friday and I was glad for another chance to wear my star sweater before summer. (Probably the last wear of this houndstooth sweater skirt, too.)

Jacket, REI. Sweater, Full Tilt (thrifted). Skirt, Outlander (thrifted and gifted). Tights, Me Moi. Boots, Lauren Ralph Lauren. Sunglasses, Coco Sunglasses. Earrings, Stardust Remembered. Bag, Target.

I saw a star of another sort Friday night when Beefy and I watched his friend in her one woman show, Arlington. I might have done a little exploring on the way to the bathroom and found this corner, completely plastered in show posters.

Asilomar

Thanks to a tide chart app on my phone., I always know when to expect low tide! We planned a trip to the Asilomar State Beach tide pools at low tide before leaving the coast.

Hoodie, SO. Sweater, Joseph A (thrifted). Overalls, Hydraulic (thrifted). Leggings, Amour. Boots, Kamik. Sunglasses, Coco Sunglasses. Earrings, flea market.

I admit to touching some of the marine life, but I took nothing except a fishing weight I found in a pool.

Big Sunglasses

Ah, how I “heart” sunglasses. They prevent squinting AND look chic. I remember hearing about tinted eye drops* being developed to make sunglasses obsolete. But how could a murky brown film compete with the glamour of a pair of shades?

Jacket, Chaps. Dress, Parker. Boots, Lauren Ralph Lauren. Sunglasses, Target. Scarf, consignment.

The downside to big glasses is they seem way more likely to get scratched when thrown into the jumbled interior of my purse. If you are a lady in a mural, big glasses may be more likely to be tagged by a graffitist.

*Trying to find info on these alleged tinted drops took me down an internet rabbit hole that ended with a procedure that allows one to permanently change one’s eye color! I got so excited (and horrified) by this that I completely abandoned this blog entry until the next day.

Bringing Sexy (Galoshes) Back

Were galoshes ever sexy? Should the be? I did my best with a leather mini and faux thigh-high tights.

Sweater, vintage. Tee, Jones New York (thrifted). Skirt, Mossimo. Tights, Urban Outfitters. Galoshes, Kamik. Earrings, Rose Bowl flea market. Bag, Target.

Those tights ripped when I got home, so I guess this is the last of sexy galoshes.

Totally not sexy: snuggling with your dog. But I like it anyway.

Old Man Snoring

I’m afraid you’ll be seeing a lot of my red raincoat and the underside of this bridge. The are both rainy day “go-to”s. And it’s supposed to be a wet winter.

Raincoat, REI. Shirt, Passport. Dress, Under Skies (consignment). Tights, We Love Colors. Boots, Lauren Ralph Lauren. Earrings, Ali’s Boutique. Bag, Steve Madden.

For this year’s 365 project, I’d like to take more pictures of my home’s interior (especially with a wet, dark winter forecast). My dream is to have an all blue and white kitchen, but the reality is that the existing tile and wall colors are very 60’s - sage green, harvest gold, and burnt orange. I continue to collect blue and white dishes and integrate them into the existing color scheme. A few of my treasures sit in an alcove above the kitchen sink:

Rainwear

I used a birthday gift certificate to purchase these shorty rain boots. I was debating between an olive and this black (with red elastic) pair. I think I made the right choice.

Sweater, Forever 21. Dress, Adrianna Papell (consignment). Boots, Lauren Ralph Lauren. Earrings, Stardust Remembered. Bag, Target. Coat, REI.

Riders on the Storm

I’ve always enjoyed extreme weather. Snowstorms in Bellingham. Typhoons in Okinawa. Electrical storms over Montana. We had a thunderstorm roll through Sacramento this afternoon and I was thrilled. (The light was pretty awesome, too.)

Kimono jacket, thrifted. Dress, Old Navy. Boots, Kamik. Hat, Nine West. Earrings, Francesca’s Collections.

In fact, the light at the edge of the storm was so incredible that I chose the uncropped version of my lead photo as today’s 365. (Not because I was too lazy for a separate 365 photo.)
