Capacity

My days are pretty full. I’m up early to exercise the dogs and usually have an evening activity. Of course, work happens in the middle. I’m currently training another sales consultant and I don’t know how I’m managing to fit it all in (as well as continue to blog!)

Dress, Banana Republic (consignment). Dress (worn as a slip), Mossimo. Shoes, Seychelles. Sunglasses, Toms. Earrings, street fair. Bag, Aldo.

I’m still managing to snag outfit shots, but editing the photos and putting them into a blog post is more of a time challenge.

Establishing Shots

I’m working on a The Set entry for the Yolo Bypass Wildlife Area, one of my favorite places for self-portraits. I have five different spots within the area that I frequent. I call this one “the runway” due to the short strip of pavement, thoughtfully placed for my posing pleasure. This is the only concrete surface in the entire area. Everything else is dirt or gravel.

Vest, AC-3998 (cut from a thrifted jacket). Top, The Limited. Pants, Polo Ralph Lauren. Shoes, J Crew. Sunglasses, Coco Sunglasses. Earrings, Ali’s Boutique. Bag, Aldo.

I’ve been taking “scenic” shots of my photo spots. I thought it might be fun to also get a picture of me taking my picture. (This is the camera height I use for shoe pics.)

Just Keep Swimming

It’s shaping up to be a pretty intense week with lots of driving and activities every night. I tell myself to “just keep swimming.”

Jacket, London Jean. Shirt, The Limited. Skirt, J Crew (consignment). Shoes, Linea Paolo. Earrings, street fair. Belt, consignment. Bag, Croft & Barrow.

I do my best to keep my energy up and my focus sharp, even when my day starts with 6 a.m. doggie runs and ends with an 8 p.m. Toastmasters evaluation.

Hot and Cold

It’s that awkward time of year when jackets are required for morning and evening, but are a sweaty nightmare in the afternoon. What’s a girl to do when her outfit is dependent on the jacket to add the finishing touch? (Sweat through her silk, that’s what.)

Jacket, INC (consignment). Dress, Equipment. Tights, Me Moi. Boots, Audrey Brooke (consignment). Earrings, street fair. Bag, Steve Madden.

No matter how warm it gets, there are some things I still like hot: morning coffee, green tea lattes (at any time of day), and soup.

Down Time

As an introvert in an outside sales job, I use the time between customers to re-energize. As soon as I enter the car, I connect my personal phone to the audio system and restart the current podcast. As I drive, I do not text and I rarely take calls. I lose myself in the audio program until I arrive at the next salon and must engage again with the outside world.

Jacket, INC (consignment). Scarf, swap. Shirt, Forever 21. Skirt, Outlander (thrifted and gifted). Tights, We Love Colors. Boots, Lauren Ralph Lauren. Bag, Target.

I also find my photo sessions restorative. I enjoy being outside, engaged in a creative act.

When I have management riding along with me, I don’t get to recharge on my drives and end the day exhausted. I like my boss, but, after five hours of together time, I was ready for wine and a book.

Avocado

I remember the low-fat diet craze and the vilification of the avocado. There was no fruit more decadent and indulgent than the creamy avocado. It was a fat bomb to be avoided at all costs. Today, it’s still decadent and indulgent, but now championed as a healthy part of any meal. I like to eat an avocado a day, either sliced on toast or just scooped from the rind with a spoon. It’s a much better lunch than the Diet Coke and apple I’d eat in highschool. (Sometimes chased with a packet of Skittles.)

Jacket, INC (consignment). Scarf, Canvas boutique. Sweater, thrifted. Pants, Polo Ralph Lauren. Boots, Lauren Ralph Lauren. Sunglasses, Toms. Bag, Steve Madden.

I don’t know if tomboy style loves me, but I sure do love it.

This is today’s 365:

And here’s what you missed over the weekend (unless you follow my instagram):

Rereading The Lost World and taking smoky Sierra hikes with my best dog.
