It’s official: I’m calling this Burpello Week. Inspired by Strawberry Kitten’s outfit, I wore burgundy, purple, and yellow from Monday through Friday.

And now you get to vote for your favorite!

My favorite Burpello outfit was...
Monday: WFH
Tuesday: Double Double
Wednesday: Call Me Joanie
Thursday: Tribble
Friday: Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest

Before I added the scarf, I was told that this dress looked “German.” I suppose that’s only appropriate since the color scheme for all the outfits this week was inspired by German blogger Strawberry Kitten (aka Nadine).

Cardigan, Bloch. Dress, Jovovich Hawk for Target. Scarf, gift from Londyn. Purple tights, We Love Colors. Striped burgundy tights, Merona. Buckle pumps, Two Lips. Studded cuff, Hot Topic. Bag, Naturalizer (thrifted and vintage).

This is actually a ballet wrap sweater, that I purchased for non-dance wear. I’ve never liked the tie placement (it always looked awkward fastened over anything but a leotard), so I cut them off. I like it much better as an open cardigan. Sometimes, you just have to take the scissors to your clothes.

I haven’t used scissors on any of my pairs of tights (although I like Megan’s ripped DIY). Instead, I like to customize them with a little creative layering.

Tribble

I’m a (not so) secret geek. I grew up watching the original Star Trek episodes and I remember the excitement when the Next Generation series started. Of the old series, some of my favorite episodes were The Devil in the Dark (my sisters and I referred to the Horta as the “Pizza Monster”) and The Trouble with Tribbles. I received this fur pouf ring through a swap and it strongly resembles a mini-Tribble. I had better be careful not to feed it.

Jacket, Cami. Sweater, Merona. Belt, Target. Skirt, Mossimo. Tights, Hue. High-heeled oxfords, Isaac Mizrahi for Target. Scarf, Cappel’s. Ring, swap. Hat (pictured below), Charlotte Russe.

I was actually named after a Star Trek character: Lt. Mira Romaine, from The Lights of Zetar episode. I suppose it doesn’t bode well that she was possessed by aliens.

Call Me Joanie

I’ll never have Joan’s figure, but I have an approximation of her pen necklace.

Cardigan, I Heart Ronson. Blouse, Merona. Dress, NY & Co (shortened). Tights, Hue. Studded pumps, Oh Deer. Sterling silver pencil necklace, vintage.

I was fiddling with the pencil at work and got the lead to emerge. Now my necklace is functional, too.

P.S. This dress is up for swap in Flickr’s Wardrobe Swap Shop. I haven’t had any bites yet. I pulled it out of the swap pile for this week’s color theme, but it will go right back.

Double Double

This is day two of burgundy, purple, and yellow and I still don’t have a name for it. What do you suggest?

Jacket, Forever 21. Sweater, Body Central. Scarf, gift. Dress, Jones New York. Tights, We Love Colors. Boots, Rampage. Bag, Vieta. Owl charm, vintage. Brass key, Ren Faire.

Why, yes, I DID just wear this sweater yesterday. Actually, I wore its twin. I bought two of these mustard sweaters at once. I also own two pairs of purple tights from We Love Colors.

Ten gratuitious pictures:

And two very silly photos:

WFH

Expect to see a lot of purple, burgundy, and yellow this week. Inspired by Strawberry Kitten’s outfit, I planned a whole week’s worth of outfits with a similar color scheme.

Cardigan, Silence + Noise. Sweater, Body Central. Tank, No Boundaries. Pants, Old Navy. Scarf, import store (embellished by me). Wedge loafers, AE for Payless. Earrings and ring, vintage.
