Call Me Joanie

I’ll never have Joan’s figure, but I have an approximation of her pen necklace.

Cardigan, I Heart Ronson. Blouse, Merona. Dress, NY & Co (shortened). Tights, Hue. Studded pumps, Oh Deer. Sterling silver pencil necklace, vintage.

I was fiddling with the pencil at work and got the lead to emerge. Now my necklace is functional, too.

P.S. This dress is up for swap in Flickr’s Wardrobe Swap Shop. I haven’t had any bites yet. I pulled it out of the swap pile for this week’s color theme, but it will go right back.

Very cute outfit with the cardigan on, and it stays cute but much more Joanesque without the cardi! Love the studded pumps!! You should rock a deep red lip with this- so vavavoom!

What a lovely necklace!

I like the dress (I had a black one and a green one just like it when I was a size 14), but it looks too bulky on your petite figure. Maybe it's the velvet.

I covet those shoes!

Hi Kasmira - I have been meaning to tell you how much I appreciate your daily blog posts; I don't know how you find the time - but I really appreciate the effort you put into your awesome outfits - and I especially love your "themes" like this week with the colors. It gets me thinking about different color combinations, and putting things together in a different way.... plus I appreciate that the items you wear are thrifted or not outrageously expensive. Anyway - thank you! You're so cute - have a great day!

just a thought. beautiful today, as always. slinky dress! i want to start watching mad men- i saw it once and loved it; it's so fun to see the costuming and to think about how crazy it was to be a woman in an office then, isn't it?

Hey Kasmira, How did you make that pencil necklace? I love Joan and Mad Men and would love to wear something similar. How did you attach the chain to the pencil? -Jessica

I love the dress and blouse color combination. It looks gorgeous! I might borrow (steal!) this color scheme.

Jzaya003 - the pencil already had a ring attached to the top and I simply threaded the chain through.

You can find pen and pencil necklaces at antique/vintage stores or buy new ( http://www.1928.com/pages-productinfo/product-57397/1928-jewelry-1960s-vintage-inspired-gold-tone-pen-necklace.html).
