Tights and Toes

Tights with open-toed shoes emerged as a fringe trend two years ago. I first tried it in November 2007 and it received mixed reviews. Two years later, as Angie says, our “eyes have adjusted” and the trend and has gone mainstream. I’m going to celebrate it with a week of Tights and Toes. Won’t you try it at least once this week?

Easiest ways to get on-board the tights and toes trend:

1. Pair nude fishnets with any open-toed shoe
2. Wear black tights with black shoes
3. Match your tights to your skirt or dress and add any color shoe

More tips on tights with open-toed shoes

My past Tights and Toes looks:

You can see that dark colored tights (e.g. purple) paired with black shoes is also a subtle look.
The second to last picture (appears to be sheer gray hose) is actually a pair of gray fishnet tights. Fishnets, unfortunately, photograph as unfashionable sheer hosiery.

I have a pair of grey booties that I'm going to pair with teal textured tights this week. I love, love the look now, and it was not a fave of mine originally.

I have really grown to love this look and have fully embraced it (including my blue tights with red shoes during the wardrobe challenge!).

I will join you for one day this week!

My newest favourite hose is taupe fishnets (worn yesterday).

The only open-toed shoes I own are summer slip-ons and a couple of suede-bottomed ballroom dance heels, none of which I can fathom wearing this week... so I think I'm going to pass on this one. But I'm curious to see what else you'll do with them!

i wasn't into this look at first, either, but have worn it a few times now, including last week with a mustard yellow sweater dress, electric blue tights, and purple satin peep-toes. i plan to wear "tights and toes" a few more times before the snow flies and walking to work is an exercise in maintaining stability over icy roads and sidewalks!

p.s. a friend of mine introduced me to your blog about a week ago, and i love it!

I'm excited to try this look myself this season! I think the style of the shoe is whats key- I wouldn't add tights to a very delicate strappy shoe, but a chunkier peep toe? Totally hot.

I love this look! My favorite is tights with chunky sandals.

Very cool. The cook can work when you pair the right hose or tights with shoes and as long as the shoes aren't too summery. The only look I hate is nude pantyhose with open-toed shoes.

I will definitely be trying this. I think I need some peep toe shoes, but sandals will have to do for now.

I like this look best when there's a really obvious difference in the tights and the shoes. The dark tights with the teal green or bright blue shoes, for example, looks cute.

I love the tights with open-toe shoe look. Unfortunately I cannot try it this week since we still have a heat index of 103 here in south central Texas.

Hopefully by November the weather will coorperate and I can start wearing fall/winter clothes.

I bought a pair of fall-appropriate open-toed shoes, and have been waiting for the cooler weather to get here so I could try this look. I love it on you!

i put peep-toes on with patterned tights the other day and wasn't too concerned about it, although i'm still on the fence about any more toe than that ;)
