Slip and Fall

I don’t miss the Florida weather at all. I’m happy to be back in Ohio’s crisp autumn air. All the fashion bloggers (in the northern hemisphere) are waxing rhapsodic about the return of boots and tights weather, but I’m also excited about the return of slips to my wardrobe.

Blouse, Express. Skirt, George (thrifted). Boots, Nine West. Leather cuff, Epcot Canada. Headband, self made. Bag, World Market.

I’m not one to talk about my underthings on my blog (I receive enough pervmail already, thank you), but I love vintage slips. They are so prettily embellished and only cost a few bucks at the thrift store. I’ve amassed a collection of at least a dozen. Unfortunately, they hang to the knee or longer and most of my dresses and skirts are hemmed to above the knee. I can’t hack off the slips without loosing some of the prettiest trim, so I wait until the return of cooler weather and longer, heavier skirts to wear them.

Really like this outfit. Love the color of that shirt. I have a similar one from Express in a deep plum - they have some nice shirts. I've love that head band. I think I asked a long time ago on a previous wearing - didn't you get the feather thing at Michael's?

ok I totally snorted I just laughed so hard. I talk about boobs and bums on my blog often (but I am not explicit or anything) and I have NEVER had a even slightly pervy email. ha. Maybe that is the key?

I love this green blouse on you. I love slips too, but it's not quite cold enough in my neck of the woods yet for them.

That's why I don't make my email public - it staves off the whole erm, email thing! I did have a comment once from a guy who wanted me to send him pictures of my veiny feet, though! Ha!

I have some of my Mom's old slips from pre-historic times, and they are very nice. If you really wanted to "shorten" yours, you could probably fold them a few inches somewhere in the middle and make a little "flounce," without disturbing the waistband or the bottom trim.

Didn't you love the Epcot shopping? I got the coolest Celtic jewelry in the England area. Love your cuff!!

PS- I started planning an outfit for that JC Penney contest, and then I went to the entries, and saw you were wearing the same dress I was going to wear. It looks better on you. I'm going to figure something else out, if I haven't already missed the deadline!

I love this whole outfit!! You look great and it screams fall, which isy favorite thing an outfit can scream. Also the owl bag makes it. Super cute as always.

I have never really worn a slip except one ofy mom's that was way too big when I was in middle school. Can you tell me the advantages? I would love to know if I am missing out on something.

I love this look. The color combo, the pattern of the skirt, the adorable owl bag. Love it all!

Jody - the feathered part of the headband IS from Michael's and you can also find the same thing (and different colors) at online craft stores.

hillary - I guess I'm some sort of perv magnet. Lucky me...

fromsneakerstostilletos - I like slips with my unlined skirts and dresses because they keep my tights from sticking to my clothes. The full length slips are nice because they provide cleavage coverage too. (You can kind of see mine at the neckline in the second photo.)

I totally agree on the loveliness and delicacy of vintage slips. I have several, but as I am already under average height I have to wear them with longer skirts too. My fave are the colored half slips I find in everything from green to coral! You have found another cute owl accessory- why don't I finds such cuteness?

I'm a vintage slip fan too. I counted mine on Monday when I went on my dyeing spree. I've currently got 13 full length slips that I've dyed a variety of colors. I love how they make me feel so polished, so I wear them even when the weather is warm.

i just adore this skirt. i have such a hard time finding warm skirts of a decent length that can be worn with a slip, although i definitely know what you mean about thrift shops and their selection! great score :)

I love the sort of `60's sort of style of your outfit. Very pretty and sexy in a classy way.
