Brickhouse

I met my Toastmasters mentee for lunch and discovered a new-to-me art gallery, The Brickhouse. The owner graciously let me take photos with a few of the outdoor murals. I’ll be back for the big Day of the Dead celebration on my birthday!

Vest, Tinseltown (cut form a consignment jacket). Shirt, Passport. Skirt, Madewell. Boots, Steve Madden. Sunglasses, Marc by Marc Jacobs. Bag, Rebecca Minkoff. Necklace, thrifted.

The murals (from left to right) are by artists @bamr_theartist, @r2romero, and @lisa.elias.

Pink Boho

One of my favorite outfits ever was my interpretation of the Bohemian aesthetic in the Lucky Guide to Mastering Any Style. I tried every one of the ten styles in the book. Bohemian and Rock and Roll were my favorites.

Today’s look was inspired by my Bohemian outfit from seven years ago. (I wouldn’t say it is recognizably boho, though.)

Jacket, Dex. Shirt, Victoria’s Secret. Dress, Jovovich Hawk for Target. Leggings, Express. Boots, Dan Post. Sunglasses, Meow Meow. Buttons, Disney. Owl brooch, swap. Bag, Clark’s.

”Yesterday’s” boho style and today’s:

All the Time

All the patterns, all the colors, all the time!

Shirt Rockies (consignment). Skirt, J Crew (consignment). Shoes, Miss Me. Sunglasses, Marc by Marc Jacobs. Necklace, thrifted. Bag, Croft & Barrow.

And a slice of lime to refresh the palate after all that craziness.

Hat Hair

The shorter the hair, the better hats work for me. With long hair, the hat only emphasizes how thin and broken my hair is below the ears. With mid-length hair, my coarse strands spring out from under the brim at all sorts of odd angles. But with a head-hugging cut, just the right amount of hair is visible and tamed.

Hat and bag, Charming Charlie. Shirt, FY2 (thrifted). Skirt, Madewell. Shoes, Isaac Mizrahi. Sunglasses, Meow Meow. Necklace, thrifted.

I apologize that today’s pictures aren’t tack sharp. I think I was too close to the camera to use such a large aperture. My 365 photo isn’t sharp, either. It’s tough to capture a subject as it runs towards the camera!

But look at those crazy faces!

Palm Twee

I hear palm print is “in.” I do like the summery vibe of the green fronds.

Shirt, Maeve (consignment). Skirt, Herman Geist (thrifted and shortened). Shoes, Linea Paolo. Sunglasses, Meow Meow. Earrings, Girlshop. Necklace, thrifted. Bag, Croft & Barrow.

365 has nothing to do with my outfit:

Utes

The dogs broke my full length mirror before I put this outfit on. I didn’t realize how much I disliked it until I took photos at the end of the day.

Shirt, Old Navy. Pants, Da Nang (consignment). Shoes, J Crew. Sunglasses, Meow Meow. Necklace, thrifted. Earrings, Francesca’s Collections. Bag, Clark’s.

I wore a very similar outfit in August and found that it photographed much better:

Ah, well. You win some, you lose some. Here’s a bridge:
