Brickhouse

I met my Toastmasters mentee for lunch and discovered a new-to-me art gallery, The Brickhouse. The owner graciously let me take photos with a few of the outdoor murals. I’ll be back for the big Day of the Dead celebration on my birthday!

Vest, Tinseltown (cut form a consignment jacket). Shirt, Passport. Skirt, Madewell. Boots, Steve Madden. Sunglasses, Marc by Marc Jacobs. Bag, Rebecca Minkoff. Necklace, thrifted.

The murals (from left to right) are by artists @bamr_theartist, @r2romero, and @lisa.elias.

Last Day

This is my last day of work. As of tomorrow, I’ll be unemployed!

Blouse, Maeve (consignment). Pants, Polo Ralph Lauren. Shoes, Seychelles. Sunglasses, Marc Jacobs. Earrings, Francesca’s Closet. Necklace, handmade gift. Bag, Nordstrom Rack.

Stay tuned for my plans for the next few months. I’ll give you a clue: it has nothing to do with dogs. (Sad face.)

Oh, and one more clue: I'm not going full-time blogger.

Dry Wind

Sacramentans are aghast when I tell them how much I love the wind here. Cincinnati’s air was so stagnant; summers there were still and muggy. Sacramento is a refreshing change. The Great Valley breezes may bring allergens, but those don’t bother me, for the most part. I’m so grateful for the air movement. I like a dry wind.

Blouse, Mave (consignment). Skirt, Flying Tomato (consignment). Shoes, Prabal Gurung for Target. Sunglasses, Coco Sunglasses. Earrings, My Daughter’s Closet. Bag, Melie Bianco.

The wind was dry, but I had trouble maintaining a dry eye as I reluctantly withdrew Jackson from pre-agility class. He is too reactive to work in close proximity with other dogs. He may be a monster in the ring, but he’s just a big cuddle bug at home.

365 catchup:

Saturday was a homebody day tending my dogs and plants. Sunday, I went SUP with friends.

Bookworm

I miss riding the bus to and from work. I’d wedge myself into a seat between another passenger and the window and get lost in a book. Now, I drive for hours a day and reading while doing so isn’t a good idea. Every now and then, I’ll binge read an ebook over the weekend, but I don’t seem to have nearly as much time for reading without the bus ride. I’m looking forward to an upcoming camping trip with minimal driving and lots of books!

Shirt, Banana Republic (thrifted). Skirt, J Crew (consignment). Shoes, Charles David. Sunglasses, Coco Sunglasses. Earrings, Charming Charlie. Belt, thrifted. Bag, Imoshion.

I love thrifting for books!

Cubana

Cuba is on Beefy’s and my short list of non-US vacation destinations. On a hot, muggy, but breezy, day, I was perhaps unconsciously channeling a Caribbean, if not Cuban, look to beat the heat.

Shirt, Banana Republic (thrifted). Skirt, Flying Tomato (consignment). Shoes, Franco Sarto. Hat, Charlotte Russe. Earrings, Rain’s Embellishments. Bag, Melie Bianco.

I complain a lot about the current temps, but I must admit that the nights and mornings are still pleasant. Unless your mom forces you to run two miles in a fur coat.

Once a Week

Should I be embarrassed to admit that I’ve joined the ranks of once-a-week hair washers? I rinse and condition almost every day, but shampoo as little as possible to preserve my color. On bad hair days, dry shampoo and a hat are my best friends!

Hat, Free Press. Jacket, Xhilaration (thrifted). Dress, Diane von Furstenberg (consignment). Boots, Vince Camuto (consignment). Sunglasses, Coco Sunglasses. Necklace, Taneesi. Bag, Nordstrom Rack.

Do you know what else I do once a week? Dog agility classes! Okay, it’s twice a week, but once a week per dog. Tuesdays are for Jasper.

Summer Cut

The first few days with this haircut, I complained about my head’s sensitivity to cold and drafts. This week, we’re expecting temps in the 80s and 90s, so I’m glad to have my summer cut. No more complaining about a cold head from me!

Dress, Peter Som for Kohl’s. Scarf, Calypso St. Barth for Target. Shoes, Prabal Gurung for Target. Sunglasses, Marc Jacobs. Bag, SheBoBo.

Jackson got a haircut, too!

365 catch-up:

On Saturday, I chaperoned a group of kids at Walk on the Wildside, an event celebrating the environment and wildlife. On Sunday, I climbed onto my neighbor’s garage roof to spread reflective tarps that keep her grooming business cooler.
