Rebellious

I realize it’s a little confusing to wear a Rebel Scum jacket and a Dark Side sweater. Which side am I on? My side. (Which, honestly has more to do with being a rebel than being dark.) For 2017, I plan to be true to myself, no matter how counter that may be to the mainstream. Be rebellious!

Jacket, Obey (embellished by my sister). Tunic, Wet Seal. Sweater, Forever 21 (thrifted). Leggings, Express. Boots, Style & Co (thrifted). Pin, Disney.

Rogue One

We saw Rogue One tonight! I dressed in my Star Wars best.

Sweatshirt, Forever 21 (customized by me). Shorts, Free People (thrifted). Belt, thrifted. Boots, Vince Camuto. Jacket, Obey (customized by my sister).

I cut the collar and cuffs off this R2D2 sweatshirt and now I like it so much better.

Here’s the sweatshirt, before:

I always wore something over it to hide how bulky the sweatshirt was. After my alterations, the fit is less bulky and more slouchy.

Conference of the Fall

Beefy competed in two contests at this weekend’s District 39 Toastmasters conference. I’m very proud to say he placed third in the humorous speech competition with his speech, Sitcom Husband. (Beefy is a funny guy!) Competition is fierce at the district level as these speakers have already won club, area, and division contests.

Dress, Ella Moss. Dress worn as a slip, Parker (consignment). Boots, Lauren Ralph Lauren. Sunglasses, Earthbound Trading Co. Earrings, self-made. Bag, Aldo.

I’m wearing my leopard Parker dress as a slip underneath the sheer, floral Ella Moss dress. I thought it might look a little weird, but the colors and patterns played nicely together.

Beefy after his big win! (I changed into cocktail attire for the evening competition.)

Last Day

This is my last day of work. As of tomorrow, I’ll be unemployed!

Blouse, Maeve (consignment). Pants, Polo Ralph Lauren. Shoes, Seychelles. Sunglasses, Marc Jacobs. Earrings, Francesca’s Closet. Necklace, handmade gift. Bag, Nordstrom Rack.

Stay tuned for my plans for the next few months. I’ll give you a clue: it has nothing to do with dogs. (Sad face.)

Oh, and one more clue: I'm not going full-time blogger.

Thistledown

On Sunday, my neighbor caught me with freshly washed, but product-free, hair.

“You’re hair’s so . . . fluffy,” she said.

I normally use products to lift, smooth, and separate. Without them, I have thistledown hair.

Shirt, Spense (consignment). Skirt, Body by Victoria. Shoes, J Crew. Sunglasses, Coco Sunglasses. Earrings, self-made. Bag, Aldo.

I will never, wittingly, share a picture of my fluffy hair, but you can imagine it looks something like this:

Episode VII

Beefy saved our Star Wars seats for 4 ½ hours. Nothing else showed before the 7 p.m. screening of The Force Awakens, so those with tickets to the first showing of the night got to wait in the relative comfort of the theater, instead of standing in the lobby or outside. I showed up half an hour before the start, feeling awfully lucky to have a great seat saved for me. (P.S. He says the movie was totally worth the wait.)

Jacket, Obey (embellished by my sister). Tee, Fifth Sun. Skirt, Mural (consignment). Leggings, Forever 21. Sneakers, Vans. Hat, Disney.

Did I like the movie? Um, YES! I thought it was just the right mix of elements from episodes IV - VI with new characters and worlds. I also liked the update to an almost comic book style of shots and pacing. Sadly, there was no space slug. I contented myself with knowing I have one at home:
