Adieu, Yellow Shoes

Sheer blouse, Forever 21. Waistcoat, NY & Co. Skirt, G.J. Forbes (thrifted and shortened). Pumps, Victoria Spenser. Clutch, Apt 9. Earrings and brooch, thrifted.

It may be time to say goodbye to my yellow pumps. I’ve owned them for a year and worn them about 30 times. While new heel tips could be applied, it would be prohibitively expensive to have the sidewalk-chewed heels themselves replaced. The patent of rest of the shoe is marked and scuffed. My early attempts to erase the scuffs with nail polish remover were not entirely successful. The Cincinnati streets and sidewalks are absolute murder on heels.

This skirt was another of my projects last weekend. I found it at St. Vincent de Paul and shortened it from tea length. As usual, I had trouble with the curved hem, but it passes a casual muster.

Noo....I love those shoes!! lol. Thats one of the things I struggle with the most, knowing when to part with shoes. [sigh] I usually just end up wearing really beat up shoes until someone tells me its time to get rid of them. (I get much too emotionally attached to my shoes, and even some clothes)

You've singlehandedly inspired me to go out and buy a couple of vests this summer.

I love the skirt. The length looks perfect. I like the combination of the two blues and white.

I so wish I had the right figure to wear vests. I might try to make my own, but I'm not sure where to get a pattern that accounts for a chest. This weekend I'm cleaning out my craft stuff, so maybe I'll actually be inspired enough to do something...

Lovely and fresh combination. And I'll be sorry to see the yellow shoes go. I hope you find a suitable replacement!

This is why I usually wear flats to walk in and change into my nice shoes once I get where I'm going. I hate when the grates in the street scrape off the material on my heels!

I scraped the heel of my only pair of heels the first day of work when I got a job in the city, from then on I did the 80's lady thing and wore sneakers (mostly because I wanted it to be very apparent that I was going to change) on the street and dressier shoes in the office. When I go out I wear them still, but that saves a few trips on the street for the shoe.

Oh no, not the yellow pumps! They look so good on you! And like the above poster, you have single handedly inspired me to buy a couple vests (a new one today...stay tuned!) AND yellow pumps! What will I do without you to inspire me with yellow pump ideas???

But if you do retire yellow, that means you must replace them with another bright colored pair of pumps--what color is next??

Maybe purple shoes are next. I've always disliked purple, but maybe I'd like it on my feet.

I'm with Leslie - you inspired me to get yellow shoes and I look to your blog for outfit ideas. I hope you get another yellow pair if you ditch these. I'm sad for the shoes, and they're not even mine. Is there something wrong with me?

oh no, I love love the yellow shoes. In fact I always think of your outfits and colour combinations when I'm deciding what to wear mine with.... they will be sadly missed, but I'm excited to see what you replace them with

Try magic eraser on your scuffs. Mr. Clean gets it done for me!

I agree with why just survive. A Magic Eraser is a miracle tool. You may get a few more wears out of them despite the worn heels if you can get the scuffs off.

It's very sad about the shoes. They are one of my favorites of yours. I love the look with the blue and white. Very nautical without looking matchy.

Oh how sad. Those pumps are fantastic.

agghh, I left you a huge comment, but it ran away. I recommend vaseline to remove the scuffs on patent leather shoes (I think you said the yellows are patent). It really works and it's cheap! Also, while a cobbler can be expensive, it can really get you another 'season' out of shoes (and shoes are much more expensive). AND, if you go a bit, recommend your friends and co workers, and mention that you add especially useful vendors to your 'website', you may get a discount. I love the yellow shoes--please save them.
