This week’s featured Sacramento mural reminds me of the
art on the side of Cincinnati’s Comic Book World: colorful, bizarre, and violent. Off 16th street, in the alley between Broadway and X, you’ll find a fantastic battle mural painted by artist “Skinner.” Dinosaurs, aliens, monkeys, and unicorns battle it out down the length of the building. (Apparently, the monkeys lost, judging by the decapitated head held by a disembodied arm. But not before they managed to lodge a dagger in the aforementioned arm.) This location was once a coffee shop, Java Lounge, but is now vacant. The outdoor artwork apparently continues into the interior, but it looks like I missed my chance to see it or ask what it has to do with coffee . . .
Shirt, American Apparel. Skirt, One Star. Boots, Blowfish. Sunglasses, Target. Scarf and earrings, Claire’s. Bag, Nine West. Rings, vintage, thrift, gift, and/or heirloom.
