Shirt, Love on a Hanger. Leotard, Danskin. Skirt, Chaus Sport (thrifted). Shoes, Two Lips. Necklace, thrifted. Bangles, Body Central, Epcot Morroco, and Tala’s Distant Treasures. Bag, Liz Claiborne (thrifted and gifted).
This red leotard was my very first, bought in preparation for a beginning ballet class in college. I later put it aside when I realized the tank top and hi-cut legs weren’t “ballet,” but I’ll always have fond memories of learning the positions and performing my first plies in this red Danskin leotard.
In fact, I still have every leotard I’ve ever bought, including the two I thrifted to replace this one in college. Washed in cold water and hung to dry, they seem to last forever! I can’t say the same for ballet tights or shoes.
You’d think, in a post celebrating my first ballet wear, that I might perform some of my very bad dancing for the camera, but I forgot the remote. I struggled to take these static photos with the manual focus and 10-second timer. Besides this pencil skirt doesn’t allow for much movement. Instead, I leave you with a best-of-ballet montage from WIW2D:

Okay, your photos made me miss your long hair. Will you ever grow it out again? I loved when you had bangs and a bun.
I would have never guessed it was a leotard-
and what a great set of pictures !! you are soo good!
I won't say never...but I am really loving my short hair now!
You are too funny! I love the "eatin clothes" post pic, that's such a beautiful pose!
sp :)
The ballet montage is such a treat to look through. I imagine the leotard is quite the comfortable layering piece, none of the pesky bunching that can happen with a tank top or cami.

Love this look and the soft ruffles you have going with the peplum and backside of the skirt. The leotard looks awesome...but the first thing I thought of was, "oh man, it must have been a drag when she needed to pee!" ;)
The high cut legs and 19 years of stretch make it easy to yank the bottom to the side to do my business. Maybe TMI....
^^LOL! I know leotards work that way. I still have a couple from a high school tap class. Never took ballet. I should've guessed you did since something about your stance and posture always said 'ballerina' to me. Great pictures!
This montage would be fun in your fashion coffee table book.
