Much Acclaim

Beefy and I attended the Acclaim Awards last night. The program recognizes theater in the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area. We attended to cheer on the winners of the 2010 Trailblazer award, but I found that I knew many of the attendees and awardees.

Dress, vintage. Jacket, Adrianna Papell. Tights, Apostrophe. Shoes, BCBGeneration. Necklace, vintage and thrifted.

This is probably my favorite cocktail dress. It was a gift from one of the theater groups I work with. It is from the early 80’s, but designed like a dress of a much older vintage. I’ve worn it twice before, to weddings:

Sorry about the coat in the first picture – that wedding was COLD!

Movie Game

Cropped jacket, Forever 21. Dress, City Triangles (thrifted). Tights, Hue. Sandals, Nine West. Brooch, swap? Crazy hair, thanks to the wind.

This was my packable “formal” look to usher the Cincinnati premiere of The Movie Game. Most of my formal wear is satin, and would not have survived being crushed in a backpack all day. I tried to make up for my less-formal duds with big hair and fake lashes. Oh, and some leg.

This was a difficult ensemble to photograph. To help you decipher the photos…the dress is a navy velvet, with beading on the skirt. The jacket is also navy, but with a black collar. I’m wearing navy tights and black, patent heels.

Motorcyle-style jacket, Forever 21

I apologize, but the issuance of the March Recession Challenge will be a bit delayed. I’ll post it later this week.

Pearl Anniversary

LBD, London Times. Green earrings, Body Central. Red bag, Target (via swap). Floral shoes, Miss Me.

We attended a surprise 30-year anniversary party tonight. The traditional 30-year gift is pearls, but my friend Karen got three big diamonds instead. She wasn’t complaining!

Mike and I have been doing the traditional gifts for our anniversary. Number four is fruit or flowers. I’d be happy with flowers, but I don’t know what to get Mike. I’ll have to get creative.

Edited on 5/1 to add shoe close-up:

Brown Gown

Brown, two-piece gown, Moda International. Strappy gold stilettos, borrowed from Fashion Lady. Gold and red enamel earrings, World Market.

On Thursday, I discovered that the banquet following the excerpts is semi-formal. I have a collection of gowns, but no time for drycleaning, thus, the wrinkles. I’m sure they weren’t visible in the dimly lit ballroom. And the beer I spilled in my lap probably helped the worst of them fall out
