Two Blazers

The last time I asked you which outerwear I should wear, many voted for both jackets. This time, I obliged by wearing one blazer for the day and the other for the evening.

Blazer, BSB Jeans (thrifted). Sweater, Joseph (thrifted). Shorts, Lassie. Tights, B. Ella. Boots, Steve Madden. Earrings, consignment. Sunglasses, Earthbound Trading Co. Bag, Steve Madden.

The lead photo is my evening blazer. I led our Sacramento Fashion and Style Meetup at Article (a consignment shop) and thought the stylish crew would appreciate my pattern mixing. For my daytime activities of a visit to the Subaru dealer and coffee with a former coworker, I opted for the more conservative topper (a J Crew blazer from another consignment shop).

Can you tell which jacket I liked best?

Darth Vader Wears Sequins

I only wear weird things to blogger meetups. How else would people know I was a style blogger? If I didn’t pair Darth Vader with sequins, people might think I blog about food and we all know my food photography sucks. It’s really hard not to make a bowl of oatmeal look like a bowl of vomit. And that’s why I take pictures of outfits.

Jacket, Adrianna Papell. Sweater, thrifted. Jeans, Old Navy. Boots, Steve Madden. Earrings, handmade gift. Clutch, Express.

Oh, I wore this to a meetup of Sacramento Bloggers. We all agreed that food photography is the hardest.

VIB

Thankfully, I had a reason to shower, do my hair and makeup, and put on real clothes. Otherwise I would have spent all weekend in my puppy grubbies.

I snapped these pictures on the way to a beauty event at one of my customers. If only I could have stayed forever in the land of skin care, hairstyling, and sangria. (Just kidding . . . I was happy to return to puppy watch at home. Sort of.)

Jovovich Hawk for Target. Belt, thrifted. Shoes, Seychelles. Sunglasses, Girlprops. Earrings, street fair. Bag, Caprice Handbags (thrifted and vintage).

Sac Fashion Week 2014: Saturday

On the final night of 2014 Sacramento Fashion Week, I wore one of my favorite cocktail dresses. I found this sequined, 80’s number at a Cincinnati thrift store. I couldn’t have paid more than $10 for it. I love the sweetheart, off-the shoulder neckline. It’s so flattering on those narrow of shoulder, but wide of hip. (And, man, does it show off dorky tan lines.)

Dress, Lillie Rubin (thrifted and vintage). Shoes, BCBGeneration. Earrings, vintage. Sunglasses, Girlprops. Bag, thrifted vintage. Rings, thrifted, vintage, and/or heirloom.

Sac Fashion Week 2014: Friday

I had originally planned to wear a different outfit to Friday night’s show, but it exposed a slice of bare midriff and I chickened out at the last moment. Instead, I bared my arms and legs. (But I wore a jacket most of the evening because the venue was a little chilly for bare arms. Somehow, bare legs never bothers me as much.)

Dress, JMC (thrifted and vintage). Shoes, Prabal Gurung for Target. Sunglasses, Girlprops. Earrings, Cuffs. Jacket, INC (consignment). Bag, Carlos Santana.

Backstage glimpses of some of the incredible hair and makeup from Friday night:

Sac Fashion Week 2014: Thursday

I’m attending my first fashion week! I’m there on official business, so I got to visit backstage with the hair stylists and makeup artists. I appreciate the looks even more after having seen the transformation process take place. There is some great beauty talent in this area. (And the generous bunch all donated their time!)

Jacket, Christian Dior (altered gift). Vest, New York & Co. Shorts, Sans Souci. Tights, House of Harlow. Boots, Lauren Ralph Lauren. Necklace, Heart Boutique. Clutch, vintage gift.

The first night was a presentation of looks from local boutiques (including shopping!) Some of my favorite boutiques were present (Wardrobe and Identity) and I now have a list of others to add to my list. If I’m not purchasing items secondhand, then I prefer to buy from local businesses.
