Summer Mixers - Red and Blue

Denim jacket, Forever 21. Dress, Jovavich Hawk for Target. Belt and beads, Xhilaration. Peeptoe pumps, Mossimo. Faux croc bag, Wilson’s Leather.

In Style inspiration page

I took some liberties with the In Style scheme. Instead of mostly blue and red with a splash of white, I started with a white (actually off-white) base and accented with blue and red. I also skipped the prints and stripes.

I really dislike it when dresses or long shirts tie in back of the waist. Not only does it look juvenile, but it speaks to the laziness of the clothing designer who wouldn’t cut the garment to fit a woman’s body without the self-adjustment of the attached sash. In this case, the dress fits perfectly without the tie, so it is purely decorative. I’m cutting it off.

Great look! What do you think of adding red shoes?

Coming out of the woodwork to say I really like this one! I also love that you used the InStyle inspiration page.

I agree with you about self-tying waists. It reminds me too much of maternity tops.

anon - I'm starting to think that I prefer only two pops of a bright accent color, like red. Three or more gets to be too matchy. I had red shoes on, until I added the necklace. Then I decided that something red had to go!

Oh I agree about the ties in the back! I even hate them on maternity tops and dresses and it's nearly impossible to find nice maternity tops that don't tie in the back. But hopefully, I won't have to go there again for a few more years.

Anyway, I adore this outfit. I love those shoes every time you wear them, so beautiful. And this blog reminds me that I need a new denim jacket!

Love the red, white and blue! I've pondered about wearing it together more often but was always afraid I would be looking like it's the 4th of July or something. You just look cute and summery--great look! But I'm with everyone on the ties in the back!

amy - the dress is from Target's Jovavich Hawke collection. I think it was in stores in March. It preceded Rogan. You might be able to find the dress on ebay.

Just wanted to say that I think you look really cute and I completely agree with the poster 'Lil' Puch' in saying that you look like a cute teenager with the dress and jean jacket.

I have to admit that I love women in jean jackets such as yours. I personally think that that worn right {like you did}, then make a woman look younger and cuter!
